  • Publication number: 20050000732
Abstract: A drilling device for producing undercut holes. The drilling device includes a drilling tool having an axis of rotation and a cutting portion arranged such that the cutting portion drills a hole with a longitudinal axis that is radially offset with respect to said axis of rotation and a centering device operable to apply a lateral force to said drilling tool for moving said axis of rotation towards said longitudinal axis to cause said cutting portion to form an undercut in a said hole.

  • Publication number: 20040261355
Abstract: An anchor for masonry. The anchor is relatively smooth walled and is forcibly driven into a hole formed in masonry or other suitable material for purposes of attaching fixtures. When driven into the hole, a shaped portion of the anchor is deformed in such a manner as to facilitate a 360 degree or greater bearing surface with the holes of wall. The walls of the hole impose forces onto the shank along this bearing surface which tend to deform shank into alignment with the hole by primarily elastic deformation so that the resulting frictional forces between the shank and the wall resist dislodgment from the hole.

  • Patent number: 6435789
Abstract: A self drilling toggle anchor including an anchor member having a head portion at a proximal end, a locking portion at a distal end and a central portion for securely anchoring hardware to a wall, where the central portion defines and borders a channel between the head portion and locking portion. The toggle anchor also includes a drilling member positioned at a distal end of the toggle anchor for drilling through the wall and a toggle member. The toggle member includes a body disposed within the channel of the anchor member, a fitting portion disposed between the body and the drilling member, and upper and lower pairs of shoulders supporting the body within the channel. The body is slidably mounted to the anchor member within the channel and the fitting portion is adapted to releasably engage the locking portion allowing the toggle member to be movable from a releasably locked and fixed first position parallel with a longitudinal axis of the channel to a second position orthogonal to the channel.

  • Patent number: 6419435
Abstract: An enhanced strength screw-type, self-tapping masonry anchor bolt for fastening a fixture or other attachment to masonry in which a hole is drilled to receive the anchor. The anchor is provided with a shank having a root section surrounded by at least one helical male cutting thread whose crest diameter exceeds the diameter of the hole whereby when the anchor is screwed into the hole, the cutting thread then cuts a female thread in the bank of the hole to mechanically retain the anchor therein to impart to the anchor a holding power that resists axial pull-out forces. The cutting thread has a leading face that is arcuate or radial (circular) and a trailing edge that is flat and disposed essentially normal to the shank of the bolt. Also provided is a masonry anchor for use with thin-walled masonry articles such as cinder blocks which is essentially a sleeve of a durable polymeric material.

  • Patent number: 6378752
Abstract: A powder actuated tool for driving a faster with combustion gases has an automatic reset. To use the device, the operator presses the device to the articles to be fastened, which requires overcoming the force of a spring in order to bring the working end where the fastener exits closer to the piston that rams the fastener. When the device is fired, a charge releases combustion gases into a chamber, whereupon a piston in the chamber is rammed into the head of a fastener to be driven. After the device is fired, the operator releases the pressure, whereupon the spring releases the energy imparted by the operator and resets the device.
