  • Patent number: 9521392
Abstract: A 3-dimensional (3D) video rendering device may convert a first left view video of a decompressed 3D video having a first frame rate to generate a second left view video having a second frame rate, and convert a first right view video having the first frame rate to generate a second right view video having the second frame rate. The second left view video having a particular pixel resolution may be converted by the 3D video rendering device to generate a third left view video having full pixel resolution of the decompressed 3D video. The second right view video having the particular pixel resolution may be converted to generate a third right view video having the full pixel resolution. The 3D video rendering device may generate a sequence of video frames for 3D video display based on the third left view video and the third right view video.

  • Publication number: 20080055477
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and system for improved motion compensated noise reduction. The system uses a temporal noise reduction filter to remove noise from the current input field and pass it through a de-interlacer to produce a noise reduced full output frame. The temporal noise reduction filter reduces noise in the present field by blending it with a predicted (motion compensated) field determined from the immediately preceding full output frame. In accordance with the invention where the current input field is for time or sequence n, the motion compensated field can be determined from the output frame corresponding to time or sequence n?1. In addition, the motion compensated field can be predicted using motion estimation and motion compensation using the current input field and the previous output frame. By using the previous de-interlaced frame which includes the information for both field polarities, the vertical resolution of the motion estimation process can be improved.

  • Publication number: 20060171457
Abstract: A video compression algorithm for converting a digital video stream having video content into a compressed video bitstream, includes rate control to control the size of the compressed video bitstream. The rate control takes into account two or more of (1) detected scene changes, (2) detected repeated fields resulting from inverse telecine processing, (3) characterized video content complexity, and (4) a determined level of a model of a bit buffer associated with a decoder adapted to decode the compressed video bitstream. In preferred embodiments, the rate control takes into account two or more of these four factors in an integrated manner to change the allocation of bits for encoding different portions of the video stream.
