  • Publication number: 20060108704
Abstract: A device and method for graphic transfers for packaging and other 3-D items. In the method, a sheet of plastic material is printed with graphical indicia that have been modified to compensate for distortions that take place when the plastic sheet is molded. When the plastic sheet with the modified graphical indicia is molded into the 3-D item, the graphical indicia will be returned to its unaltered form. The machine has upper and lower mold bodies that when brought together to a closed position will tightly seal a plastic sheet therebetween to define an upper airspace and a lower airspace. The machine has a heating source and a mold in the lower mold body. The machine is usable to mold plastics sheets bearing modified graphical indicia into 3-D items where the graphical indicia is returned to its unmodified state.
