  • Patent number: 11420212
Abstract: The invention relates to a continuous dry granulation method and non-invasive monitoring and control of the dry granulation method. The invention further describes a dry granulation system and uses thereof. In particular, the non-invasive monitoring methods employ a sound, force, strain, vibration and/or acceleration sensor in order to determine the mechanical strength of a compacted material during a dry granulation process. Further, the compaction parameters of the compacting unit of the granulation process may be controlled to maintain a target mechanical strength of the compacted material.

  • Publication number: 20170173911
Abstract: In a method for external lubrication of the press rolls (2 or 2.1) of a roller compaction device (1) by means of a continuous coating of said press rolls (2 or 2.1), a thin layer of a lubricant and/or an anti-adhesive are continuously provided to coat the press rolls (2 or 2.1). This coating preferably contains magnesium stearate or a mixture containing magnesium stearate. To carry out the method, at least one coating device (13, 14, 15 or 13.1, 14.1, 15.1) is arranged in a housing in which the press rolls (2 and 2.1) are arranged, by means of which coating device at least one press roll is provided with a thin coating of a lubricant and/or an anti-adhesive, preferably with magnesium stearate or a mixture containing magnesium stearate. The method is used for the manufacture of dry granules in the pharmaceutical and food industries.

  • Patent number: 6711962
Abstract: A method to determine the compression factor of powders for processing by roller presses with a roller diameter of 100-400 mm. A rotating press-roller (2), a matrix (4) and a piston (11) for measurement of the compression factor are used in the inventive method. The device to carry out the inventive method consists of a rotating press-roller (2) which is connected to a groove (5) in a displaceable matrix (4) and a piston (11) connected to a ruler (17) and a pointer (15) by means of a guide element (12) and a guide rod (13), whereby the depth of the groove is greater than the 20° angle tangent on the press-roller (2) when measured from the horizontal center axis.

  • Patent number: 5509612
Abstract: The device for continuous mechanical shaping of a particulate material includes a housing; a pressing roll pair forming a pressing space and enclosed in the housing; a rotating element which can be a size reduction roll or a rotor with screen insert arranged below the pressing roll pair; a mechanism for displacing the pressing roll pair together with the rotating element relative to the housing and perpendicular to a rotation axis of the rolls and a mechanism for adjustably spacing the pressing roll pair and the rotating element relative to each other and perpendicular to the rotation axis. The pressing roll pair is advantageously tiltable between 0 and 90 degrees to the horizontal. The rolls are advantageously provided with milled grooves arranged so as to be parallel and extend at an angle of from 0 to 90 degrees to an axis of rotation.

  • Patent number: 4070288
Abstract: A disc filter includes a housing and a plurality of filter discs mounted in the housing at different levels of the latter. Means is provided for sensing the presence of a filter cake formed on one of the filter discs when the filter cake has a predetermined thickness. The sensing means includes a sensing member which is displaceable in response to the generation of a pressure differential thereacross. The sensing means further includes a switch which is connected with the sensing member and is operative in response to displacement of the sensing member. The sensing member, which is favorably in the form of a plate, is located intermediate a pair of the filter discs and is preferably arranged immediately below the lower surface of the upper filter disc of the pair. In operation, a medium to be filtered is admitted into the housing of the filter under pressure. As the medium is filtered by the filter discs, filter cakes build up on the filter discs.
