  • Patent number: 4440505
Abstract: The watch case comprises, notably, a case band 1, a crystal 14 and a back 5 detachably mounted on the case band and a caging ring 6 assuring the positioning of a movement 22 in the case. The case band 1 has an upper opening 2 designed to be sealed by the crystal and a smaller-sized lower opening 3 defined by a projection 7 radially extending inward to its lower part. The caging ring 6 has an upper portion 10 and a lower portion 11 containing outer surfaces 12, 13, the dimensions of which correspond respectively to those of the upper opening 2 and lower opening 3 of the case band 1, the ring 6 being insertable in the latter through its upper opening before mounting of the crystal and placed so that its lower portion 11 is engaged in the lower opening 3 of the case band 1. The back 5 is held against the lower surface 8 of the projection 7 of the case band by means of set screws 9, tightening of which assures the locking of the caging ring 6 in the case.

  • Patent number: 4437770
Abstract: A timepiece (1) contains a movement (2), topped by a dial (3) and housed in a casing (4) of a watch case. A crystal (5) is located over at least a portion of its periphery against the upper edge (6) of the casing. The edge (6) has a surface inclined (7) toward the inside of the case and defines with the opposite surface of the periphery of the crystal and with the outer edge of a riser (8) placed on the circumference of the dial (3) a housing in which a gasket (9) is deformably held.

  • Patent number: 4433921
Abstract: The watchcase essentially comprises a crystal 1, or other transparent part visible from the outside of the case, assembled to the body 2 or a bezel exclusively by way of a layer 3 of low-temperature solder, in the nature of a silver or tin solder. A layer of barrier coating 5, chromium for example, serves to avoid diffusion of solder in the liquid state to the surface of the crystal. The zone of junction may be masked by a metallic coating 4, and the grip of the solder may be improved with a supplementary junction layer 6. It is thus possible to make watchcases of distinguished appearance, comprising junction areas of narrower width than those required when cement is used for the assembly.
