  • Publication number: 20040118945
Abstract: A method for air writing includes creating an airborne field of luminescent particles by using a particle generator connected to a reservoir containing luminescent particles, and tracing a visible path through the field by using a wand to change an intensity of at least some of the airborne particles. The intensity change is effected by causing a chemical reaction to occur at said at least some particles, and may include illumination of dark particles via emission following from light-induced excitation, or quenching of initially illuminated particles. Still other aspects and other features are also described herein.

  • Publication number: 20040083683
Abstract: A product packaging system and method. In one embodiment, the present invention is comprised of a backing member to which a product will be adhereingly disposed thereon. The packaging system is further comprised of an adhering material disposed upon the backing material for adhering the product to the backing member. The packaging system is further comprised of a flexible plastic material for encasing the backing member with the product adhereingly attached thereto. The flexible plastic material is sealable and tear resistant. The present invention is further comprised of a sealing component for sealing the flexible plastic material, such that the product and the backing member to which the product is disposed thereon are packaged. In one embodiment, the backing member is relatively rigid in nature and readily recyclable. In one embodiment, the flexible plastic is adapted to receive marketing communication materials and graphics/artwork.

  • Publication number: 20040025993
Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing a protective cover for use on a portable electronic device to substantially prevent harmful impacts thereto. The protective cover may include peripheral pad elements each having a mounting surface and an impact portion and a retention member for retaining the protective cover to the electronic device. The mounting surface for each peripheral pad element may include at least one shoulder extending substantially perpendicularly from the mounting surface so that each peripheral pad element can be positioned in a nested arrangement with at least one peripheral edge of the electronic device. In this manner, the impact portion for each peripheral pad elements provide an exposed, resilient cushion to substantially prevent harmful impact to the electronic device.

  • Patent number: 6636175
Abstract: A method and apparatus for acquiring a remote position. The present invention allows a user to locate a remote paging device located on a person or piece of property to determine its physical position. A user contacts a position service provider, identifies a device or devices to be located and provides a password. A message is then generated to locate the remote device over a communications network. In one embodiment, a paging communications network is used. Another embodiment uses a Bluetooth communications network to contact the remote device. The position of the remote device is determined by a GPS transceiver and is sent to the position service provider. The position of the remote device is then displayed on a map for the user. The remote device can also be used to send a distress signal which will provide the position of the sender and automatically be forwarded to emergency services.
