  • Patent number: 9663075
Abstract: An automotive vehicle has an electric parking brake (EPB) and an electronic control unit (ECU) configured to control the EPB. The ECU is configured to control the EPB to apply it upon determining that a driver is not present in the vehicle. The ECU is configured to determine whether the driver is present in the vehicle or not based at least upon there having been or not having been a steering input. The ECU is configured to determine that there has been a steering input when a steering torque signal from an electric power steering system of the vehicle has changed by at least a threshold amount during a set period of time based and determine that there has not been a steering input when the steering torque signal has not changed by at least the threshold amount during the set period of time.

  • Patent number: 8905217
Abstract: A controller is provided and may monitor a pressure of brake fluid and a state of a transmission of a vehicle. The controller may maintain predetermined brake pressure below a threshold pressure required to prevent movement of the vehicle in response to movement of the transmission into a park state and in response to a drop in brake pressure below the threshold pressure to permit the vehicle to roll with resistance for a predetermined time following the drop of brake pressure below the threshold pressure.

  • Patent number: 5921144
Abstract: A brake pedal assembly for applying the brakes of an automotive vehicle comprises an elongated brake lever pivotally mounted on a bracket at a point adjacent the upper end of the brake lever permitting swinging movement of the lower end of the lever forwardly to a brake-applying position and rearwardly to a brake-release position. The brake lever has a head on the upper end and a pedal on the lower end. A brake lever displacement limiter comprises a tie-bar mounted on the bracket to provide an abutment positioned to be struck by the head of the lever to block rearward movement of the lower end of the lever beyond the brake-release position.
