  • Patent number: 11724576
Abstract: A liftgate assembly having finished show surfaces, and process of manufacturing same. The liftgate assembly includes local reinforcements that are overmolded to first reinforcements, and the first reinforcements are infrared welding to a first panel. Second and third reinforcements are also infrared welded to the first panel. To infrared weld the respective reinforcements to the first panel in predetermined locations with respect to the first panel, nesting structures are provided to hold the respective reinforcements and first panel. At least one infrared heating fixture heats various predetermined surfaces on the reinforcements and first panel, and the parts are then pressed together for joining the predetermined surfaces of the respective parts together. The process is repeated, if needed, until all of the reinforcements are infrared welded to the first panel. Outer panels are bonded to the second and third reinforcements.

  • Publication number: 20230001773
Abstract: A composite liftgate structure that is strengthened using a metal hybrid reinforcement. The metal hybrid reinforcement is connected to the perimeter surface area of an inner panel. Another embodiment of the invention is directed to a swing door having an internal tubular frame for providing attachment of hinges and latches to the door and at least one inner or outer panel for attaching to the frame.

  • Patent number: 10232567
Abstract: Device for laying up a composite product with fibrous rovings made from glass, carbon, aramid and other similar filaments, designed especially for production of composite reinforcements or supporting elements such as the reinforcement of tailgates of personal vehicles, consists of individual unwinding spools (2) of fibrous rovings (21) rotatably arranged around the composite product (1). The unwinding spools (2) are installed on the set of the rotary disc rings (3) which are mounted on a common fixed ring frame (4) and equipped with independent drives (5) with pre-programmed control of direction and speed of their rotation wherein the composite product (1) is during the laying up procedure alternately fixed to individual carrier grippers (8) of at least one program-controlled manipulator (9). In each rotary disc ring (3) as well as in fixed ring frame (4) at least one lateral passage (6) is created for entry and exit of the composite product (1) between the unwinding spools (2).

  • Patent number: 8950802
Abstract: A structural part, in particular a structural part designed as a transverse supporting member for connection between the A columns of a motor vehicle and, more in particular as a structural part in tailgates or bumper supporting members, is to be developed in such a way that it has low weight, high mechanical stability and rigidity and is simple and inexpensive to produce. To do this, the structural part (1, 1?) is designed with a number of elongated closed or half-open synthetic material structures (2, 3), which in outer regions (4, 5) surround reinforcing filaments (6) running in the longitudinal direction (A) sectionwise, wherein the reinforcing filaments (6) are held form-lockingly in the respective synthetic material structure (2, 3) by means of formations (7) in their surface, so as to absorb tensile forces in bending of the structural part (1, 1?).
