Abstract: Described herein are encapsulation devices that include an inner layer, an outer layer, a cell containment layer positioned between the inner and outer layer, and structural elements disposed within the cell containment layer to separate the inner and outer layers by a separation distance. The structural elements define reservoir spaces for the retention of a biological moiety (such as cells) therein. The structural elements maintain a separation distance both under external compressive forces and under internal expansive forces, such as undergoing a geometric change in the encapsulation device or during crushing and subsequent expansion of the cell encapsulation device. In some embodiments, a reinforcing layer is positioned between the inner layer and the cell containment layer. In addition, the encapsulation device may include at least one configuration element. Methods of placing encapsulation devices in a body conduit intra-luminally, extra-luminally, and via an open surgical procedure are also disclosed.

Abstract: A method for hold management in an environmental controller is provided. The controller controls heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment to environmental parameters defined by a user. The controller can follow a program schedule or operate in a schedule-free mode; however various hold events can be defined that override the schedule or schedule-free operation. The hold events can define target parameters to be maintained during the hold event. Multiple hold events can be defined where a priority of the hold events can be utilized to determine which hold event should be implemented, without cancelling the lower hold events.

A dome-shaped structure at least partially surrounds the bowl-shaped extension but is spaced apart from it to permit at least some rotational movement of the connector. The dome-shaped structure may be attached by clamps or other mounting means to a flange member affixed to the tendon porch. This arrangement provides a load path when the tendon top connector is reverse loaded that extends from the tendon length adjustment joint, through slips, through the bowl-shaped extension, through the dome-shaped structure, through the segmented clamps, and finally into a flange attached to the tendon porch. In this way, detachment of the tendon top connector is prevented if a reverse load is applied such as may occur during extreme metocean conditions.

Abstract: An internal combustion engine is supplied with combustion air via an inlet manifold. A throttle valve controls the amount of air admitted to the combustion chamber. A fuel injector is provided for injecting liquid fuel into the airflow in the inlet manifold downstream of the throttle valve. A vaporiser is located upstream of the throttle valve. Under light load conditions most if not all of the fuel required by the engine is supplied by the vaporiser. The throttle valve will accordingly be wider open, for any particular power output, than it would be if it controlled only combustion air. At high power outputs (typically after the throttle valve has reached a wide-open state) fuel is supplied by the injector 11 and the output of the vaporiser is reduced so that more air can be admitted to the cylinder for effective combustion of the liquid fuel supplied through the injector.

Abstract: A computer system records when employees enter and exit a workplace, thereby producing time and attendance data for each employee. Each supervisor is able to configure computer generated reports that contain designated information about the employees for whom a respective supervisor is responsible. A separate summary data file stores report data for each employee and the report data are updated automatically as the employee completes a period of work. The supervisor creates a report profile which specifies items of report data that are to appear on a particular report and whether only employees with an item of report data within a selected range are to appear. Reports are produced for a supervisor by using the respective report profile and summary data files for those employees associated with that supervisor.

Abstract: A combined handle and actuating device for pressurized dispensers such as paint spray cans has a body including a handle to be gripped by the user and a means for readily attaching the device to the dispenser. The coupling means may comprise resiliently deformable nose and tail portions which co-operate with a channel in the top of the dispenser. The device includes an actuating means which is operable to depress or release the actuating member or button of the dispenser, and which includes a trigger for operation by the hand of the user.
