  • Patent number: 9155405
Abstract: A display system for a product storage device includes a transparent unit having a front panel, a rear panel, and a transparent LCD panel positioned between the front panel and the rear panel. The transparent LCD panel is configured to present visual media content. A lighting element is attached to the transparent unit and configured to provide lighting for both the transparent LCD panel and for products within the product storage device. The lighting element emits light in a direction away from the transparent LCD panel and toward the products within the product storage device. A light guide selectively reflects the light emitted from the lighting element back toward the transparent LCD panel and through the transparent LCD panel to provide backlighting for the transparent LCD panel.

  • Publication number: 20150223619
Abstract: A display case door assembly for a temperature-controlled storage device includes a frame defining an opening into the temperature-controlled storage device and a transparent unit coupled to the frame. The transparent unit includes a first vacuum pane, a second vacuum pane, and an evacuated gap between the first and second vacuum panes. The evacuated gap has a predetermined thickness within which a vacuum is drawn, thereby providing a thermal insulation effect for the transparent unit. The transparent unit further includes a plurality of spacers disposed within the evacuated gap and configured to maintain the predetermined thickness of the evacuated gap when the vacuum is drawn therein.

  • Publication number: 20150015133
Abstract: A pivoting mullion for a temperature-controlled storage device is provided. The pivoting mullion includes a mullion body pivotally attached to a display case door of the temperature-controlled storage device. The mullion body is rotatable relative to the display case door between a first position when the display case door is open and a second position when the display case door is closed. The mullion body is configured to provide a support surface against which the display case door rests when the mullion body is in the second position and the display case door is closed. The pivoting mullion further includes a lighting element fixed to the mullion body and configured to activate when the display case door is closed. Activation of the lighting element illuminates items within the temperature-controlled storage device such that the items are visible through the display case door when the display case door is closed.

  • Patent number: 8756865
Abstract: A door system can have a door that can both slide and pivot open. The door can be positioned in a door frame. The door can slide within the door frame using tracks, rollers, and/or guides. The door can be prevented from swinging open while the door is sliding along the doorframe. The door can swing open along a pivot point when a side of the door substantially abuts a side of the doorframe. The door can be prevented from sliding while door is swung open.

  • Patent number: 5622414
Abstract: A refrigerator display case having a plurality of insulated glass window panels mounted in side-by-side relation for pivotal movement about an upper horizontal pivot axis. Each of the window panels has a substantially all glass front appearance, unencumbered by external hardware, trim or moldings. To achieve such appearance, the upper spacer element of the window panel is in the form of a pivot bar completely concealed by an outer glass pane of the panel, but which has an exposed underside mounting surface to which a hinge plate is connected. Each window panel has side sealing members secured to respective side spacers and with a blade portion extending outwardly from the peripheral edges of the glass panes of the window panel for side-by-side sealing engagement with the side sealing members of adjacent window panels when the window panels are in a closed position.
