    Abstract: An image-bearing article used in liquid contact electrostatic printing (CEP) is formed from polymers that meet the requisite conformance and heat stability for the CEP process. Excessive absorption of toner carrier liquids by the image-bearing article in liquid CEP leads to the deterioration of the image-bearing article and reduces the useful life of the image-bearing article. The absorption of the toner carrier fluid may be controlled by the addition of oxides, silicone elastomers containing phenyl end groups, fluorosilicones or increasing the cross-linking density of the methyl silicones.

    Abstract: A seamless intermediate transfer member has a reinforcing member in an endless configuration, a filler material such as a polymer and electrical property regulating material to regulate the electrical properties such as surface and bulk resistivity, dielectric constant and charge dissipation. The seamless intermediate transfer member also has good mechanical properties. The reinforcing member can be prepared by any suitable method such as by weaving. Filler material and electrical regulating material can be applied on, around or embedded into the reinforcing member. The member can be employed in an electrostatographic imaging system with more than one toner imaging station. The member can pick up a separate image from each individual imaging station and transfer the combined image to a suitable substrate.

    Abstract: An apparatus in which a donor roll advances toner to an electrostatic latent image recorded on a photoconductive member. A plurality of electrical conductors are located in grooves in the donor roll. The electrical conductors are spaced from one another and adapted to be electrically biased in the development zone to detach toner from the donor roll so as to form a toner cloud in the development zone. In the development zone, toner is attracted from the toner cloud to the latent image. In this way, the latent image is developed with toner.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for electrostatically spray coating substrates with layers of material having uniform thicknesses is provided. A substrate to be coated is electrically grounded and an electrically charged, atomized spray of coating material is directed toward the substrate from a nozzle. The nozzle is traversed along a length of the substrate, which can also be rotated, to coat substantially the entire surface of the substrate. In order to compensate for thickness variations in the applied coating, the speed of traversal of the nozzle is varied. In a preferred embodiment, where photoreceptor drums are produced by spraying a photoreceptor material onto a cylindrical substrate, the speed of traversal of the nozzle is reduced as it approaches at least one end of the cylindrical substrate.
