  • Patent number: 10025734
Abstract: A method is used in managing input/output (I/O) operations based on application awareness. An I/O operation directed to storage is received. The storage is provisioned in accordance with an application and the provisioning includes selecting one or more default options in accordance with best practices of the application. Based on the provisioning in accordance with the application, an evaluation is performed of the acceptability of an I/O operation.

  • Patent number: 8438342
Abstract: Described are techniques for automatically provisioning storage for an application. A request to provision object-based storage for the application in a data storage system is received The request identifies the application and is received from a user interface interacting with the data storage system at a specified one of a plurality of user levels, each of said plurality of user levels being associated with a different level of abstraction with respect to first processing performed in implementing the request. The first processing is performed to provision object-based storage for the request. The first processing is determined in accordance with the application and includes a level of automation varying in accordance with the specified user level at which the user interface interacts with the data storage system. The automation includes selecting one or more default options in accordance with best practices of the application.

  • Patent number: 8219724
Abstract: A method is used in flexibly managing input/output (I/O) operations based on application awareness. An I/O operation that is directed to storage is received. The storage is provisioned in accordance with an application. The provisioning includes selecting one or more default options in accordance with best practices of the application. Based on the provisioning in accordance with the application and based on a rejection template that has a user configurable description of I/O acceptance criteria, evaluation of the acceptability of an I/O operation is performed. The rejection template is revised.

  • Patent number: 5891520
Abstract: A method for decorating and/or labelling glass articles and like ceramic ware by screen printing. The present method comprises the steps of (a) treating a glass article or the like with a silane adhesion promoter; and (b) applying a non-ceramic screen ink directly onto the silane-treated glass article by screen printing. The non-ceramic screen ink is preferably a heat-set ink which includes an organic resinous binder, a non-heavy metal colorant and a vaporizable solvent system. Examples of the binder include, but are not limited to, one or more of polyamide, polyester, polyester-vinyl, acrylic, vinyl and acrylic-vinyl resins. Examples of the non-heavy metal colorant include titanium dioxide and organic colorants (e.g., insoluble derivatives of organic dyes). The non-ceramic screen ink may additionally comprise one or more rheology-adjusting agents for making the ink well-suited for screen printing and may additionally include other additives of the type commonly found in screen or other printing inks.

  • Patent number: 5448776
Abstract: A lightweight, tear resistant sporting mitt for use on or adjacent to beaches and water. The mitt is water repellant and is unaffected by sand, while having sufficient structural strength to withstand heavy use with hard balls such as artificial baseballs. The mitt is formed from substantially congruent alternating planar layers of abuse resistant plastic coated canvas and resilient compressible porous or foam material (two outer layers of canvas, two layers of resilient compressible porous and a central canvas layer. The layers are peripherally sewn to each other, with an opening remaining, at the base of the mitt for hand insertion between resilient compressible porous layers. A hinge line for a ball catching pocket extends from the hand insertion opening to a webbing enclosed cut out section.
