Abstract: An improved commissioning system for production facilities includes a server storing information on all components included for commissioning the facility. Remote computing devices allow technicians to readily locate devices using satellite positioning information. Each component is given an identification tag with a unique identifier. After locating the components, the technician may use the remote devices to read the identification tag and communicate with the server to obtain and/or update information about the component. A commissioning manager may similarly access the server from a computing device to obtain real-time or near real-time information on the status of the commissioning process. With the real-time or near real-time information on the commissioning process, the commissioning manager can better direct the technicians' efforts and determine where bottlenecks in the commissioning process might be occurring.
