Patent number: 11594850Abstract: An electrical power unit or electronic data unit includes an outer housing, a circuit board positioned inside the outer housing, a frame inserted inside the outer housing, and a face plate fitted over the outer housing. The circuit board supports, for example, a high voltage AC electrical receptacle, a low voltage DC electrical receptacle, and a switch, each of which is electrically connected to the circuit board. The frame defines a plurality of outlet openings for receiving respective one of the AC electrical receptacle, the DC electrical receptacle, and the switch. The face plate defines outer receptacle openings that align with respective outlet openings of the frame to provide access to the respective AC electrical receptacle, DC electrical receptacle, and switch.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2021Date of Patent: February 28, 2023Inventors: Norman R. Byrne, Shane Rogers, Paul J. Martus, Aaron G. Lautenbach

Publication number: 20120146381Abstract: An armrest for arena, stadium, classroom and auditorium seating. The armrest includes a base and an interchangeable arm cap secured to the base. The base defines a rectangular recess sized to telescopically receive a support leg, the recess including vertical crush ribs to retain the support leg within the recess. The arm cap is releasably joined with the base opposite the recess and is interchangeable with multiple different arm caps while the support leg remains inserted in the recess. The arm cap can include any desired finish, and can extend over the interface between the base and the arm cap to provide a clean appearance.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 13, 2010Publication date: June 14, 2012Applicant: AMERICAN SEATING COMPANYInventors: Douglas B. Spooner, Paul J. Martus, Keith A. McDowell

Patent number: 6709723Abstract: An exterior automotive quality paint coat is laminated to the surface of a plastic car body member of panel. A dry paint transfer film is first laminated to a relatively thin semi-rigid thermoformable resinous backing sheet. The backing sheet side of the resulting laminate is then laminated to a relatively thick thermoformable substrate sheet comprising the same or a compatible polymeric material. The two sheets are joined by extruding the thick substrate sheet and using the heat of extrusion to then laminate the thin backing sheet to the thicker extruded substrate sheet. The resulting thick sheet laminate is then thermoformed, preferably by first heating the laminate to a forming temperature, followed by vacuum forming the laminate to a three-dimensional shape of the finished automotive part, such as a facia, ready to put on a vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2001Date of Patent: March 23, 2004Assignee: Avery Dennison CorporationInventors: John E. Roys, Howard H. Enlow, Paul J. Martus

Publication number: 20030003282Abstract: A process for making a low-gloss exterior body panel or member includes forming a thermoplastically formable dry paint transfer film on a heat-resistant temporary carrier having a low-gloss microroughness. The dry paint transfer film has a polymeric outer clear coat layer and a polymeric base coat layer containing a dispersed pigment. The clear coat layer contains (a) uniformly dispersed filler particles in an amount below about five parts by weight of the total resin binder solids and (b) a dispersion of a fluorinated polymeric material in a solvent solution of an acrylic resin. The dispersion has an average particle size from about 20 to about 35 microns. The dry paint transfer film is laminated to a semi-rigid thermoplastically formable resinous backing sheet on a side opposite from the clear coat layer. A relatively thick substrate sheet is extruded from a thermoformable polymeric material. A paint-coated thick sheet laminate is formed by laminating the backing sheet to the extruded sheet.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 3, 2002Publication date: January 2, 2003Inventors: John E. Roys, Howard H. Enlow, Paul J. Martus
