  • Patent number: 7232337
Abstract: A connector receptacle assembly for facilitating electrical connections is provided. The receptacle assembly includes a housing having a mating end for receiving a plug assembly; and at least one flexible latch member disposed on and projecting from an outer surface of the housing. Each latch member is defined by a longitudinally extending slot formed in the housing and extending along a side edge of the latch member and a transversely extending slot formed in the housing and extends along a rear edge of the latch member. In one embodiment, each latch member is pivotable about a pivot axis extending between a distal end of the longitudinally extending slot and a distal end of the transversely extending slot.

  • Patent number: 7074066
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly is provided by an internal connector assembly having a housing with a latching structure which is latchable with a mating connector. The housing positions mating terminations in mating registration with a further electrical connector. An outer housing assembly is positioned over the inner connector housing and provides a sealed enclosure to the mating interface between the two electrical connectors. The inner housing assembly further includes a rotatable collar which, when rotated, has a cam surface, which deflects the locking latch of the internal connector housing, thereby disconnecting the two electrical connectors.

  • Patent number: 6592396
Abstract: A cap for covering an electrical connector has a hollow tube with an exterior that is reversely tapered relative to the interior of the hollow tube, which adapts the tube for manufacture by a tapered mold core pin and a tapered molding die cavity, and which adapts the tube to funnel an electrical cable along the hollow tube.

  • Patent number: 6558207
Abstract: An electrical connector includes contacts each having a contact body that is stamped from sheet material. The contact body has opposite surfaces and a nominal thickness between the opposite surfaces corresponding to a thickness of the sheet material. The contact body has a mounting section that is secured in a housing, and a resilient section that is deflectable upon engagement with a mating contact. The resilient section includes a deformed section wherein the opposite surfaces of the contact body are deformed to produce extremities, and a thickness between the extremities is greater than the nominal thickness of the contact body. The increased thickness increases the stiffness of the resilient section, thereby increasing the spring rate of the contact.

  • Patent number: 6142828
Abstract: A shielded electrical connector for use with a cable (2) having a wire conductor (4) within a ground sheath (6) includes an interconnection device (10) having a front mating end (12) and a rear cable-connecting end (14). A conductive shield (20) is disposed on the interconnection device. The shield is manufactured as a one-piece metallic member having multiple panels (40, 50, 60, 70, 80) disposed in respective different planes around the interconnection device. The shield also has fingers (90) disposed at the cable-connecting end of the interconnection device. The fingers are circumferentially spaced-apart to define a cable exit (25) between the fingers. The fingers extend rearwardly to respective finger contact portions (92) which are arranged for engaging the ground sheath (6) when the cable is disposed in the cable exit.

  • Patent number: 5947761
Abstract: An electrical connector for terminating a plurality of wires (4) includes a housing (10) which holds a plurality of insulation displacement contacts (52) that are associated with respective ones of the wires. The contacts are arranged in two spaced-apart rows (55, 56). A fixture (16) is pivotally connected to the housing. The fixture has an array of first slots (82) and an array of second slots (86). The arrays of slots are spaced-apart. The first slots (82) are axially aligned with respective ones of the second slots (86) to define pairs of axially aligned spaced-apart slots. The wires (4) can be laced into respective ones of the pairs of slots (82, 86) when the fixture (16) is in an open position, and the slots are arranged such that the wires become terminated to respective ones of the contacts (52) when the fixture is pivoted to a closed position.

  • Patent number: 5591045
Abstract: This invention relates to a cross connect wiring block also known as a 110 connector system. This type of wiring block typically includes slotted beam contacts to electrically interconnect a set of first conductors to an associated set of second conductors. The wiring block essentially comprises an elongated housing containing plural cavities defined by opposing walls, where each cavity receives a slotted beam contact longitudinally positioned within the cavity. The improved features of this wiring block are the provision that each first conductor consists of a metal core and an outer layer of insulation, where the diameter of the conductor is a predetermined diameter, and that opposing walls of the cavities include plural pairs of longitudinally directed projections, where the distance between the projections of a given pair is less than the predetermined diameter. This ensures greater wire retention of the conductor.
