    Abstract: A compliant stator motor is disclosed. In one implementation, the motor (200) includes a rotor (210), a stator (220) having main and auxiliary windings, an outer motor case (230), and a group of isolators (240) positioned between the stator (220) and outer motor case (230) to enhance forces applied to the foundation (260) due to excitation of the auxiliary windings. In another implementation, the motor (300) includes a rotor (310), a stator (320) including main and auxiliary windings, linear bearings (320) configured to constrain a motion of the stator (320) to an axial direction, and isolators (330) connected to the stator (320) and configured to enhance axial forces applied to the foundation due to excitation of the auxiliary windings.

    Abstract: There is disclosed multiple embodiments of a predictive active compensation system for dampening vibration in an optimum manner employing feedback control wherein stiffness of dampening material is adjusted on a continuous and dynamic basis to ensure that relative displacement between vibrating machine or object and its foundation does not exceed particular limits including limits preventing impact between object and foundation. In these disclosed systems and methodologies of the present invention the foundation may also be subjected to movement. Further disclosed are computer plots of mathematical models on which embodiments of the present invention are based, thereby demonstrating efficacy of the present invention.

    Abstract: An active control device for reducing high-speed impulsive (“HSI”) and blade vortex interaction (“BVI”) noise in a rotor aircraft, such as a helicopter, is disclosed. The system comprises a plurality of rotor blades extending radially in spaced relationship from a central hub, each of the blades having spaced apart upper and lower surfaces, an interior volume between the surfaces, and leading and trailing edges at the respective joined edges of the upper and lower surfaces. Air intake passages are disposed on the surfaces of each blade proximate the leading edge to controllably admit air into the interior volume; and air output passages are disposed on the surfaces of each blade proximate the trailing edge and the outer edge tip to controllably expel air from the interior volume of the blade. Admitting and expelling of air into and out of the interior volume of each blade is controlled in accordance with a determined condition of that blade.

    Abstract: The present invention is noise attenuation system and related method for suppressing noise generated by a noise source, such as a jet engine, contained in a housing. An impedance device is positioned in the housing to attenuate the amplitude of sound waves generated by the noise source propagating in one direction and to create a reflected sound wave. The reflected sound wave is out of phase with the sound waves propagating from the noise source away from the impedance device. The reflected sound wave destructively interferes with this sound wave to attenuate the amplitude.

    Abstract: The system disclosed herein controls the vibratory energy radiated from a structure subject to excitation from an outside disturbance by enforcing a preselected mechanical impedance upon at least one point in the structure using an electromechanical transducer connected to the structure at that point. The transducer is energized in response to the output of an adjustable or adaptable filter. Sensors provide signals representing the force applied by the transducer and the resultant velocity. The force and velocity signals are applied as inputs to the adaptable filter through circuit means including a component providing an electrical analog of the preselected mechanical impedance. The adaptable filter is then controlled to reduce the amplitude of the input signal applied to the filter, i.e. the error between the measured mechanical impedance and the desired impedance.
