  • Publication number: 20080036810
Abstract: A fluid printing process such as one that includes subdividing a desired printed pattern into geometrical elements and thereafter sequentially printing these elements in a series of subsets by depositing one or more fluid formulations onto a substrate, and subsequently exposing the deposited fluids to energy in order to dry the deposited one or more fluids substantially and immediately upon deposition so as to control at least one of solid deposition and surface roughness.

  • Patent number: 6896724
Abstract: The present invention relates to a pigment dispersion and a method of producing a pigment dispersion by grinding a grind mixture comprising a pigment, a humectant, water, and a polymeric dispersant. The invention also relates to an ink composition comprising an aqueous carrier and a pigment dispersion produced by grinding a grind mixture comprising a pigment, a humectant, water, and a polymeric dispersant. The invention also relates to an ink composition comprising a pigment, a polymeric dispersant, a humectant, a basic dye, an aqueous carrier, wherein the pH of the ink composition is less than or equal to 7.

  • Patent number: 5907108
Abstract: A system and method for the automatic sampling and dilution of homogeneous particle dispersions is developed that uses a multistep parallel dilution network system for the sample and diluent and includes variable dilution capabilities. The sample and diluent are combined and allowed to mix uniformly over a predetermined conduit length. Resampling from the first dilution step and recombining with another diluent line results in a second dilution step. The number of steps determines the dilution range; the manipulation of the sample and diluent flow rates provides a variable dilution ratio at each dilution step. An exemplary embodiment reduces the concentration of a latex sample for analysis with uv-vis spectrometry. In another embodiment, the emulsion polymerization of styrene is followed in real time with turbidity measurements taken on diluted samples.
