  • Patent number: 5108536
Abstract: A lead cut and tape attach apparatus (10) for automatically cutting leads on one side of a semiconductor I.C. quad device and subsequently cutting and attaching a piece of tape over the gaps formed between the cut leads and for sequentially cutting the leads and attaching tape thereover on the remaining sides of the quad device includes a double-acting punch assembly (34) formed of an inner punch blade (58) and an outer punch (56). There is provided upper and lower cams (68, 78) for actuating the inner punch blade relative to the outer punch so that on a first downward stroke the inner punch blade is extended to cut the leads of the quad device. On a second downward stroke of the punch assembly, the inner punch blade is retracted and the outer punch cuts and attaches the tape.

  • Patent number: 5094710
Abstract: A tape dispenser for taping 90.degree. box corners includes a housing (12-20) for supporting a roll of tape to be dispensed therein, a first guiding member (30) for aligning the tape from the roll along the 90.degree. box corner to dispense a predetermined length of tape from the roll, a second guiding member (32, 34) for guiding initially the tape onto each side surface of the box forming the 90.degree. corner, and a third guiding member (42) for subsequently applying the tape onto the side surfaces of the box. A pair of blade carrying brackets (52, 54) is mounted for reciprocating vertical movement relative to the housing. A holder (58) is provided for receiving the blade carrying brackets for the reciprocating vertical movement therein. A cutting blade (56) is mounted to the lower ends of the blade carrying brackets. A cam actuating mechanism (76) is used to drive the blade carrying brackets downwardly to cause the blade to cut the tape which has been dispensed to the predetermined length.

  • Patent number: 4730973
Abstract: An unloading mechanism for unloading automatically a box, includes an endless conveyor belt with a conveyor beld extension for transporting a box to be unloaded. A cage device is used to receive the box to be unloaded from the conveyor belt. Air cylinder actuators are operatively connected to the belt extension for pivoting downwardly the belt extension in order to permit rotation of the cage device. Rotary air cylinders are operatively connected to the cage device for rotating the cage device through approximately 165.degree. in a first direction in order to unload the contents of the box into a hopper.

  • Patent number: 4691747
Abstract: A method and apparatus for aligning projecting parts of an assembly, such as integrated circuit electrical connector pins. A deformation plate at a first deformation station of the apparatus deforms the pins in a first vector direction, e.g., radially outward. At a second deformation station, the apparatus deforms the pins in a second vector direction, e.g., radially inward. The method causes the pins to be aligned to a very narrow tolerance.

  • Patent number: 4683023
Abstract: A machine for applying an adhesive pad to the ends of semiconductor device packages includes a punch assembly, a tape feed assembly, and a package feed assembly. The tape is incrementally fed to the punch assembly where semiconductor packages are individually brought into alignment. The punch assembly first shears an adhesive pad from the tape and thereafter applies the pad to the package. The punch member of the punch assembly includes a resilient tip which assures that the tape is securely attached to the package and helps prevent damage to the package. Semiconductor device packages having such taped ends are less likely to be damaged in subsequent processing and handling.

  • Patent number: 4646619
Abstract: A singulating apparatus for a semiautomatic handgun is described comprising a spring member which extends from a sear in a cantilevered fashion for engagement by a sear actuating member when the sear actuating member is in a cocked position. When the sear actuating member is moved from its cocked position to a firing position by a pulling of a trigger member, the spring member is disengaged from the sear actuating member, significantly reducing the force necessary to discharge the firearm. The spring constant of the spring member is chosen to hold the sear in its cocked position after releasing a striker to discharge the firearm so as to prevent unintentional automatic operation. The sear is balanced and pivotally mounted in the firearm at its center of balance so as to prevent unintentional discharge of the firearm in the event that the firearm is dropped or struck by a sharp blow.

  • Patent number: 4537059
Abstract: An apparatus for quality control testing of semiconductor packages comprises a support platform for holding a device in a fixed location and a reciprocatable brush which is mounted to contact the device with a constant force. The reciprocating mechanism basically moves the brush horizontally across a test package but is linked with a cam system for elevating the brush out of contact with the test package during one of the strokes and lowering the brush back into contact with the test package during the other stroke. Highly accurate and repeatable abrasion tests can thus be performed.

  • Patent number: 4331077
Abstract: A marking element assembly including a yoke which is driven by an arm. The arm is connected to a slider block which transfers motion to the yoke. The yoke has an interior channel for slider block free motion, with drag, after a marking element connected to the yoke stops yoke motion. The slider block moves against interior walls of the yoke dissipating arm motion and providing shock absorption for the marking element.
