  • Patent number: 7524560
Abstract: A boron nitride composition having its surface treated with a coating layer comprising at least one of a silane, a siloxane, a carboxylic derivative, and mixtures thereof, wherein the coating layer adheres to at least 10% of the surface of the boron nitride. The boron nitride powder surface is first treated by either a calcination process, or by coating with at least an inorganic compound for the surface to have a plurality of reactive sites containing at least a functional group that is reactive to at least one functional group of the final coating layer.

  • Patent number: 6476158
Abstract: A process for preparing a high gloss retention resin molding formulation comprising a polyester resin and a polycarbonate resin where the process comprises the steps of selecting a desirable colorant which is stable at molding temperatures and has desirable color retention properties when subjected to weathering, determining an optimized concentration of the colorant for maximizing gloss retention properties of the selected colorant by performing weathering test at differing concentrations of the colorant, and optionally determining a suitable gloss enhancing.

  • Patent number: 5814712
Abstract: A method for making an impact modified thermoplastic resin composition includes combining an glycidyl ester impact modifier with a polycarbonate resin to form a glycidyl ester impact modifier-polycarbonate resin blend and then combining the glycidyl ester impact modifier-polycarbonate resin blend with a polyester resin to provide the impact modified thermoplastic resin composition. Articles molded from the impact modified thermoplastic resin composition made according to the method exhibit high impact resistance and improved surface appearance.

  • Patent number: 5648411
Abstract: Thermoplastic compositions exhibiting enhanced melt stability are provided. The compositions contain a blend of resins and an organosulfate salt. The resin blends are preferably selected from (a) a blend of a polyester resin, such as polybutylene terephthalate, and aromatic polycarbonate resin, and (b) a blend of a low molecular weight polyester resin and a high molecular weight polyester resin. The compositions exhibit enhanced retentions of cystallinity and related properties, during melt processing.
