Patent number: 10045016Abstract: A method of managing lip synchronization error in a multimedia content delivery network includes identifying a video packet and an audio packet associated with the video packet and determining a synchronization offset between the audio and video packets at a first monitoring point in the network. The audio and video packets are then detected at a second monitoring point in the network and a second synchronization offset is determined. When a delta between the first synchronization offset and the second synchronization offset exceeds a threshold, lip synchronization error information may be automatically recorded and/or reported to a service provider and corrective action may be taken if potential sources of the lip synchronization error are within the domain of the service provider. The video packet may be identified by a timestamp within the packet and the audio packet may be identified by audio data within the audio packet.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2017Date of Patent: August 7, 2018Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Chen-Yui Yang, Chee Ching, Paul Kahn, David H. Lu, Anthony Mark Srdar

Patent number: 8899590Abstract: A beer pong system that includes a catch component and a stabilization component. The catch component is configured to be disposed within a hollow cavity of a cup and comprises a compliant surface to aid in preventing a ping pong ball thrown into the hollow cavity from bouncing out. Versions of the catch component include a filler material-filled pouch, a filler material-filled retainer, a catch membrane, and uncontained catch material. The stabilization component stabilizes the cup in an upright position and includes, among other versions, a weight configured to be disposed within the hollow cavity of the cup. The beer pong system enables players to play beer pong with stable cups and ball retention without requiring uncontained liquid in the cup.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2012Date of Patent: December 2, 2014Assignee: Skill Pong LLCInventors: Kristopher Paul Kahn, Ricky Lee Bergmann

Publication number: 20060197481Abstract: A system for operating a barrier system such as a garage door, gate or fence. A DC motor is connected to and operates a barrier drive. A power amplifier is configured to receive power signals from a power supply and to output modulated DC signals to the DC motor. A controller implements an intelligent closed-loop motion control algorithm to control the power amplifier according to a non-linear motion profile. A feedback sensor provides status signals to the controller to determine position or speed of the barrier.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 4, 2005Publication date: September 7, 2006Inventors: Robert Hotto, Paul Kahn, Lambert Ling

Publication number: 20050281567Abstract: A signal light that is easily accessible and that includes multiple lights. The signal light is particularly useful for gaming environments, such as in casinos. The signal light includes a light housing and a switch housing. A power supply may also be included. The light housing is disposed or mounted on a support which is either free standing or mounted to the chair such that the light housing is elevated. The switch housing is operatively connected to the light housing such that the switch housing is spatially separated the light housing. The light housing may include a plurality of differently colored lights that a casino may designate for respective services when lit, and the switch housing may include a corresponding number of switches for selectively operating the lights.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 25, 2005Publication date: December 22, 2005Inventor: Paul Kahn

Publication number: 20050041416Abstract: A signal light for a chair positioned at a gaming table in a casino. The signal light includes a light housing and a switch housing. A power supply may also be included. The light housing is disposed or mounted on a support which is mounted to the chair such that the light housing is elevated above the chair. The switch housing is operatively connected to the light housing such that the switch housing is spatially separated the light housing. The light housing may include a plurality of differently colored lights that a casino may designate for respective services when lit, and the switch housing may include a corresponding number of switches for selectively operating the lights.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 20, 2003Publication date: February 24, 2005Inventor: Paul Kahn

Patent number: 6847287Abstract: A control system for an actuator used to actuate a device. A receiver in the control system receives different transmitter identifiers from multiple transmitters. A central processor coupled to the receiver uses a received transmitter identifier as the address of a memory location. If the control system is set to a write mode when the transmitter identifier is received, a valid bit is set in the addressed memory location to indicate that the transmitter identifier is valid. If the control system is set to read mode when the transmitter identifier is received, the addressed memory location is examined to determine if a valid bit has been set. If the valid bit has been set, the central processor transmits a signal for actuating the device.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 2001Date of Patent: January 25, 2005Assignee: Linear CorporationInventors: Dan Stottlemyre, Paul Kahn

Patent number: 4954251Abstract: Microaggregate blood filter adapted to pre-filter aggregates larger than 150 microns without interfering with the on-going and continuous filtration of aggregates between 40 and 150 microns. Filter comprises a flexible housing having inlet and outlet ports and an interior nest of two generally cylindrical concentric outer and inner filter screens with a space between the screens. Blood to be filtered enters the housing from the top and is pre-filtered for aggregates larger than 150 microns by the inner screen. The inner screen defines a relatively large interior volume which allows filtered aggregates to collect by sedimentation at its lower portions in a manner that permits on-going, continuous, and unobstructed filtration of the blood through its upper portion for subsequent and final filtration through the outer 40 micron filter. A preferred filter has a transparent housing and built in drip chamber and can be primed without inverting the filter.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1989Date of Patent: September 4, 1990Assignee: Miles Inc.Inventors: Bruce E. Patent number: 3938198Abstract: A prosthesis for replacement of a damaged joint or load-bearing structure in an animal or human body comprises a shaped structural member, a relatively thick or cushioning coating of a physiologically inert elastomer over the surfaces of the structural member in load-bearing relationship with the skeletal structure of the body, and an open-pore, tissue-ingrowth-receptive fabric coating the elastomer, all elements being firmly bonded to each other. In many embodiments, a stem of the prosthesis comprising the above elements is adapted to be inserted into a bone cavity, and is eventually affixed firmly thereto by fibrous tissue and bony ingrowth. Stability of the stem portion is enhanced by buttresses integral with the base of the stem.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1973Date of Patent: February 17, 1976Assignee: Cutter Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Paul Kahn, James A.
