  • Patent number: 6611223
Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting ultra wide-band (UWB) signals using multiple detectors having dynamic transfer characteristics. A receiver circuit is implemented using devices such as op-amps to provide the required dynamic characteristics. Detectors used in the UWB communication systems of the present invention utilize direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) technology for multiple access reception.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 2, 2001
Date of Patent: August 26, 2003
    Assignee: National University of Singapore
Inventors: Kay Soon Low, Kin Mun Lye, Paul Kar Ming Ho
  • Publication number: 20030103583
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for detecting multiple-level phase shift keying (MPSK) signals based on detectors that have nonlinear dynamics transfer characteristics are disclosed. The receiver circuit can be implemented easily using devices such as the op-amps to provide the required dynamic characteristics. The performance is enhanced by transmitting multiple cycles of the PSK signals and gating of the received waveforms.
