Abstract: An amalgam capsule includes two chambers separated by a piston detachably formed as a part of the capsule end cover. One compartment is formed in part by a resilient flange portion of the capsule which is deformable to provide communication of the chambers and to permit a mixing of the contents of the chambers in the larger of the chambers. Delivery of the mixed amalgam is accomplished by removing a cap from one end of the capsule to expose an aperture therein, and connecting the opposite cover end of the capsule to a syringe, the plunger of which detaches the piston from the capsule cover and drives the piston through the mixing chamber to eject the amalgam therefrom.

Abstract: A dental container receives and separately stores mercury and silver ingredients until they are subsequently brought together and mixed within the container for making a ready-to-use amalgam which is directly injected from the container into a prepared tooth cavity. Visual indicators are provided on the container to advise a dental operator of the current status of the dental container.

Abstract: A ring-like adjustment member having a plurality of adjustable elements is mounted in a tooth-encircling relationship with a prepared tooth having a finish line. Each element is adjustably movable so that its leading edges may be moved toward an attachment line defined by the neck of the tooth and its immediately adjacent gingival tissue below the visible gum line. The leading edges, after adjustment, define an impression line whose contour resembles the contour of the finish and/or attachment lines. Accurate custom-made impressions of the prepared tooth may be obtained. The adjustment member may also be mounted on the prepared tooth to assist in the formation of a temporary crown, and may further be mounted as a readily removable matrix on a tooth requiring filling.

Abstract: A compact telephone intruder alarm system is operative for indicating to a current on-line user of a primary extension telephone which is already interconnected with the telephone line of the subsequent interconnection and disconnection of another auxiliary extension telephone with the same telephone line. Electrical OFF- and ON-hook signals are respectively generated each time an extension telephone is interconnected or disconnected with the telephone line, and each such hook signal is successively detected and electrically amplified before being conducted to a light-emitting diode. The first detected OFF-hook signal indicates the start of the interconnection of the auxiliary extension telephone, and the second detected ON-hook signal indicates the duration and the end of the intruder presence on the telephone line. All electrical components are of miniature size and are mounted within the handset to simplify and to make installation less discernible.

Electrical click signals of limited time duration are generated each time an extension telephone is interconnected or disconnected with the telephone line, and each click signal is successively detected, filtered and electrically amplified before being conducted to a relay alarm circuit. The first detected click signal indicates the start of the interconnection of the auxiliary extension telephone, and the second detected click signal indicates the end of this interconnection. A timing arrangement energizes and deenergizes the alarm circuit prior to the end of the duration of the first and the second click signals, respectively. A switch selectively disables the intruder alert system.

Abstract: The disclosure describes wall for a direct fired heater which burns high sulfur fuels. The wall includes an inner casing lined internally with refractory and an outer casing spaced from the inner casing to provide, air space therebetween and means for controlling the rate of air flow thru the space. Proper selection of the refractory and proper control of the rate of air flow assure that the temperature of the inner casing is maintained above the dew points of sulfur oxides for any ambient condition. The casings are joined at their upper ends and an air opening is provided at the lower end of the outer casing whereby air is admitted to the air space. An adjustable air vent is provided at the upper end of the outer casing for control of casing temperature, when necessary. A plurality of horizontal baffles extend from the inner casing outward into the air space to inhibit re-circulation of air in the air space.

Abstract: A weight is attached to a conically shaped hollow member which rests on the top of a bed of particulate material in a tube, with the weight functioning to prevent fluidization of the material in the tube. The conical member is provided with elongated slots whereby fluid exiting from the bed flows into the interior of the hollow member, through the slots and into the tube outlet.
