Abstract: A bird feeder including a shroud embracing a vertically disposed feed container with the feed container having a feed tray at the lower end thereof. The shroud is vertically movable between an upper position and a lower position with respect to the feed container. In its upper position, birds are able to gain access to the feed tray. In its lower position, the shroud blocks access to the feed tray. A spring yieldably maintains the shroud in its upper position. If a squirrel climbs onto the shroud, the weight of the squirrel overcomes the resistance of the spring which results in the shroud moving to its lower position to prevent the squirrel from gaining access to the feed tray. Three different embodiments of the spring are described and shown. The design of the cover of the shroud partially shields the spring from inclement weather.

Abstract: A one-piece feed container for use with a bird feeder including a shroud extending around the feed container. The feed container is cylindrical in shape and has an upper end and a lower end. A feed inlet structure is positioned in the upper end of the feed container and is molded therewith so that the feed container is of one-piece construction.

Abstract: A squirrel bungee apparatus is shown. A first plate member is suspended from an overhead structure. A second plate member is pivotally secured to the first plate member whereby the first and second plate members may be moved between first and second positions. A torsion spring interconnects the first and second plate members and yieldably maintains the first and second plate members in their first position. An elongated flexible chain has its upper end secured to the second plate member and has a food item or the like at the lower end thereof. When a squirrel jumps onto the food item, the weight of the squirrel causes the first and second plate members to move from their first position to their second position thereby causing the food item and the squirrel to move downwardly and thence upwardly in a bungee fashion due to the action of the torsion spring.

Abstract: A U-shaped perch for a bird feeder which is selectively movable between retracted and extended positions with respect to the bird feeder. The perch is horizontally slidably mounted in a support at the lower end of a feed port positioned in a feed opening formed in the bird feeder. The perch is selectively locked in its extended position. The perch and the support cooperate to limit the outward extension of the perch with respect to the support. The perch may also be movably mounted on the bird feeder which does not have a feed port.

Abstract: A pole assembly which includes a pole, a hub being placed on the pole, the hub having a plurality of enclosed channels formed therein, a plurality of arm assemblies with each arm assembly having a vertical segment designed to fit within a respective channel and an arm extending outwardly from the vertical segment, and a finial designed to sit on top of an upper end of the pole, the finial having a spirit level incorporated therein.

Abstract: A hub and arm assembly for mounting on a pole, the assembly including a hub having an inner wall and an outer wall with at least one reinforced area formed thereon, the inner wall having a bottom surface, a plurality of transversely extending walls extending between the outer wall and the inner wall with at least one channel being defined therebetween, a supporting member having a vertical segment sized to fit within the channel, and a support arm extending outwardly from the vertical segment, the support arm having a downwardly extending segment designed to abut the reinforced portion of the outer wall.

Abstract: A suet feeder which comprises an inner frame, a tray sized to receive a suet pack, the tray being slidably mounted on the frame, a suet support member which is mounted on the frame, the tray being slidable past the suet support member, and a shroud extending over the frame and tray and suet support member, the shroud having a wall which extends over the tray and suet support member, the wall having a feed opening therein with a relatively closed area of the shroud being located above the feed opening, the arrangement being such that the feed opening is normally located proximate an upper portion of the suet support member such that access may be had to a lower portion of a suet pack mounted on the suet support member.

Abstract: A vertically disposed post or pole which is comprised of a lower tube having upper and lower ends and an upper tube having upper and lower ends. The lower tube has a swaged upper end portion which is configured to receive the lower end of the upper tube. A novel connection structure is provided which ensures that the upper and lower tubes will be perfectly aligned when connected together. A plurality of the upper and lower tubes may be joined together if so desired.
