Abstract: The retrieval of data from a database in a computerized database management system is optimized through the use of a virtual join index and associated covering non-unique secondary indexes. The virtual join index is created by combining one or more commonly-used columns of one or more tables. The covering non-unique secondary indexes are generating by combining one or more commonly-used columns of the virtual join index. Data is not stored in the virtual join index after the covering non-unique secondary indexes are generated. Thereafter, some queries or portions thereof may be resolved solely by accessing one or more of the covering non-unique secondary indexes.

Abstract: A biopsy needle for sampling bone marrow tissue, comprising a handle, and tissue sampling means comprising a sampling tube with a bore therein to receive a tissue sample, the outer surface of the sampling tube having an abrading formation extending in an axial direction along the tube, for abrading the sampled tissue, to permit the cannula tip to be laterally displaced whilst the tube is inserted into the bone marrow tissue. Abstract: A bucket elevator for use in grape harvesting which has buckets in sequential alignment which are each attached to a bucket elevator chain so that the orientation of each bucket will remain that of the chain to which it is attached. There are disclosures of shapes of buckets to facilitate collection, emptying and carrying materials and to avoid allowing spaces between the buckets which will ensnare with materials being carried.

Abstract: A harvester especially for grapes wherein sets of beaters (4, 5) on each side of the harvester are adapted to be used in unison to effect a beating action to remove fruit from plants being harvested, with devices (35, 36) to change a relative position of respective pivot supports (29) for each respective set of the beaters (4, 5) while the sets of beaters (4, 5) are in a beating mode and operating. A hydraulic ram arrangement (35, 36) that facilitates this by being able to be over the grape collection area without hydraulic connection fittings and flywheels that are supported on sub frames in a way that will not unduly prejudice the beating action. An arrangement for detecting changes in pressure of the beaters and arranging for a change in position of support of the beaters in response.
