  • Publication number: 20230360549
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for delivering a customized and responsive learning pathway. In one embodiment, a profile service receives an objective related to a course of study, receives information to represent prior learning related to the course of study, and tracks progress related to the course of study. A prior learning assessment (PLA) engine conducts an assessment based on the prior learning related to the course of study, conducts a strength of fit analysis to align the assessment with a plurality of competencies and courses in a learning institution catalog and associated with the course of study, maps at least one of the plurality of competencies and courses to the assessment, and grants a credit for the at least one of the plurality of competencies and courses based on the assessment. A recommendation engine generates a customized and responsive learning pathway.

  • Patent number: 11174987
Abstract: An objective of the present invention is to provide users with a mounting kit that enables any ceiling fan to be mounted on the ceiling, as well as be powered through an electrical outlet via a power plug. In other words, the present invention intends to provide users with a device that can make the installation of a ceiling fan less cumbersome and more efficient, without having to have hardwiring. Further, the present invention comprises a remote control that enables users to control or operate the ceiling fan remotely or from a distance. Furthermore, the present invention comprises a cable raceway that helps to hide the power cord and provide aesthetic appeal to the arrangement. Thus, the present invention allows a user to enjoy the benefits of a ceiling fan at low cost and better convenience.

  • Patent number: 10989881
Abstract: An optical connector includes a housing with a bottom wall defining a window therein, and an optical ferrule disposed in the housing and comprising opposing major top and bottom surfaces. The major bottom surface of the optical ferrule faces the bottom wall of the housing. The major top surface includes a groove and a light redirecting surface configured to receive light along a first direction from an optical fiber received and secured in the groove, and redirect the received light along a different second direction. The redirected light exits the optical ferrule though the bottom surface and exits the housing through the window, such that, when the optical connector mates with a mating optical connector including a mating optical ferrule, the mating optical ferrule prevents any of the light exiting the optical ferrule from exiting the housing of the optical connector.

  • Publication number: 20190077546
Abstract: Unlike other sealing devices which are internal to a bag and adhered to the bag by heat or glue the current invention is external to the bag, is not adhered to the bag by heat or glue, is free to be moved up or down the bag to remove excess air, is reusable, and can be used on one type of a bag in one instant, removed, and be used on another type of bag. Furthermore, on current sealing devices if anything comes in-between the male and female seals which go directly into each other it renders the seal ineffective, but the current invention is not disturbed at all, and in fact the bag type container becomes part of the seal.

  • Publication number: 20170059637
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure can relate to detecting and accounting for fault conditions affecting electronic devices. In implementations, electronic devices can be coupled to one another in series with a common power line linking the electronic devices together. For example, the electronic devices can include down hole tools/equipment of a drill string. In embodiments, a system can include circuitry configured to couple a first electronic device with a second electronic device. The circuitry can detect or receive information regarding a fault condition and can set a switch to an open position, where the first electronic device and the second electronic device are electrically disconnected from one another, when a fault condition affects or is caused by the second electronic device.

  • Patent number: 9357080
Abstract: A system performs residual echo suppression on a microphone signal that receives, e.g., voice commands, and that is exposed to echo from multiple speakers. An example is a smartphone that receives voice commands while the smartphone is playing music through stereo speakers. The system estimates residual echo level in different ways, and determines which estimate to use. The technique responds well to the difficult to handle scenario of a spatially quiescent image suddenly transitioning to a spatially rich image. Even in the face of such difficult scenarios, the system detects and removes residual echo from the microphone signal, instead of allowing the undesired residual echo to pass through.

  • Patent number: 9343797
Abstract: A converged network is described. The converged network includes a distributed antenna system hub coupled to the communication lines for wireless communications, horizontal cabling to carry communication lines for wired communications and wireless communications and a remote socket. The horizontal cabling is a duct that carries the wired and wireless communication lines to convey the telecommunication signals within the building. The remote socket connects the wireless communication lines with a remote electronics unit. In addition, one or more antennas can also be coupled to the remote socket to convey analog RF electrical radiation from the remote socket over adhesive backed coaxial cabling to the indoor environment.

The socket is configured to house multiple media to connect to remote electronics housed in the remote electronics unit. The socket includes a socket interface configured to mate with a remote electronics unit interface. At least one of the socket and remote electronics unit further includes an actuation mechanism configured to connect the multiple media simultaneously. The remote socket apparatus can be utilized in a network that provides in-building wireless (IBW) communications and in a converged network that also provides wired in-building telecommunications.

  • Patent number: 9196956
Abstract: A hybrid network for in-building wireless (IBW) applications that provides a forward link path and a reverse link path, each on separate media. In particular, a hybrid cabling system for providing wireless coverage in a building comprises a forward link comprising at least one optical fiber to couple a first signal generated at an RF input bank with an RF antenna node, and a reverse link comprising coaxial cable, wherein a portion of the reverse link includes radiating coaxial cable configured to receive a second signal transmitted by a wireless user equipment in the building and pass the second signal to the RF input bank.

  • Patent number: 9008813
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a stamped part, such as a bipolar plate for a fuel cell, includes the steps of: providing an original model of the bipolar plate; and performing a compensation process on the original model, the compensation process including a two step morphing process based upon a prediction of spring back. The two step morphing process provides a compensated model of the stamped part. A compensated die face may be created based on the compensated model of the stamped part. The stamped part manufactured with the compensated die face has spring back compensation.
