  • Patent number: 5556552
Abstract: The present invention relates a head for a spot welding apparatus or a setting apparatus comprising an electrode (2) for to supplying a welding current or setting current to a piece (3) to be welded to another piece (4) or to set and also, to exert, during the welding operation or setting operation, an axial force (F) on said piece (3). The head has an electromagnet (8) for transmitting the axial force (F) to the electrode (2).

  • Patent number: 5495088
Abstract: A process measures the temperature of the space between one or more pieces that are subject to a rising temperature during a welding or a setting operation. Thermoelectric sources are used to form at least one of the interfaces placed between at least one electrode (5; 10,11) and the pieces (1; 13, 14) and between the pieces, to supply thermoelectricity by an electric resistance (16), to measure the current that flows through resistance (16).

  • Patent number: 5477020
Abstract: The force (F) is derived from one or several electromagnetic forces each one of which is developed by the effect of a current (I.sub.s, I.sub.B) that circulates through a conductor (8) buried within a magnetic field.

  • Patent number: 5298711
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for controlling the parameters of a welding operation performed by a spot-welding machine. The machine has two movable electrodes which are connected to a source of current that supplies a welding current. The process controls the welding parameters on the basis of at least one electric signal that is a function of the temperature in the welding zone. The electrical signal or signals are taken between the terminal of one of the electrodes (10, or 20) and one of the parts to be welded (30, 40). The electrode and part together constitute a thermocouple.
