  • Publication number: 20120244415
Abstract: A battery assembly includes a first cell and a second cell adjacent the first cell. A first insulator and a second insulator extend over and encapsulate first electrode and second electrode. A shell extends over the first and second insulators thereby encapsulating the first and second insulators. A mechanical connection is defined between the first insulator of the first cell and the second insulator of the second cell.

  • Patent number: 8192857
Abstract: A battery assembly includes a first cell and a second cell adjacent the first cell. A first insulator and a second insulator extend over and encapsulate first electrode and second electrode. A shell extends over the first and second insulators thereby encapsulating the first and second insulators. A mechanical connection is defined between the first insulator of the fist cell and the second insulator of the second cell.

  • Publication number: 20080299448
Abstract: A battery unit (10) includes a plurality of trays (14) connected to one another and positioned on top of one another to define sides (16, 18, 20, 22) and top (24) and a bottom of the battery unit (10). A plurality of cells (12) are adjacent one and the other and connected with one another in overlapping relationship with each of the cells (12) extending over spaced openings (50) defined in the trays (14). A controller (54) is connected to the tray operably communicating with each of the cells (12).

  • Publication number: 20080020272
Abstract: A device of the present invention is used for forming a layered battery cell having at least first electrode and at least one second electrode of charge opposite from said first electrode and a separator layer positioned between the first and second electrodes and at least one of a first current collector connected to at least one of the first and second electrodes and at least one of a second current collector connected to at least one of the first and second electrodes. At least one support member is integrated with an assembly line. A plurality of pins extend from the support member for receiving the first and second electrodes and the first and second current collectors layered with one another to assemble the same into a unitary package.
