  • Publication number: 20190194757
Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of diagnostics, in particular, cancer diagnostics. More specifically, it relates to a method for identifying whether a subject suffering from a BRAF-positive cancer is a non-responder to a BRAF inhibitor, or not, and/or is a responder to an MAPK/ERK inhibitor, a method for diagnosing cancer, a method for assessing responsiveness to targeted therapy in a subject and a method for assessing cancer in a subject. Moreover, contemplated by the invention are a kit and a device for diagnosing cancer. Further, the invention relates to a MAPK/ERK inhibitor for use in treating a subject suffering from a BRAF-positive cancer.

  • Patent number: 8903531
Abstract: A method of sorting laminates includes characterizing first shapes of laminates from measurements taken of each, assembling the laminates to derive a first relationship between the first shapes and yield loss, characterizing second shapes of the laminates from a reduced number of the measurements to derive a second relationship between the second shapes and yield loss, analyzing a change in the derived relationships to determine a least number of the measurements necessary for achieving the yield loss and sorting supplied laminates in accordance with a characterized shape of each, which is obtained from the least number of the measurements taken for each supplied laminate.

  • Publication number: 20100021563
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to natural and/or homeopathic compositions comprising coconut oil in a form suitable for topical administration to a subject and having one or more health-promoting property, including those for treatment and/or prevention of disease, and methods for use thereof. The present disclosure further relates to natural and/or homeopathic compositions comprising coconut oil and optionally at least one additional active agent, which may impart natural, homeopathic, medicinal, pharmaceutical, and/or cosmetic properties, and methods for use thereof.

  • Patent number: 7421970
Abstract: Equipment for entering and exiting boats is addressed. Generally, the equipment is in the form of “divers' doors” for inflatable or similar boats. However, unlike existing inflatable doors, the doors discussed herein need not necessarily inflate. Instead, they may be formed as flaps moveable between closed and open positions. Ramped rub strakes or other aspects of the boats may assist in diverting water away from any gaps present when the flaps are closed but the boats are travelling at significant speeds.

  • Publication number: 20080118952
Abstract: The present invention provides novel polynucleotides encoding LTRPC3g, LTRPC3h, LTRPC3i, LTRPC3j, LTRPC3k, or LTRPC3l polypeptides, fragments and homologues thereof. Also provided are vectors, host cells, antibodies, and recombinant and synthetic methods for producing said polypeptides. The invention further relates to diagnostic and therapeutic methods for applying these novel LTRPC3g, LTRPC3h, LTRPC3i, LTRPC3j, LTRPC3k, or LTRPC3l polypeptides to the diagnosis, treatment, and/or prevention of various diseases and/or disorders related to these polypeptides. The invention further relates to screening methods for identifying agonists and antagonists of the polynucleotides and polypeptides of the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20070148692
Abstract: The present invention relates to KCNQ proteins defining potassium channels. In particular, the invention concerns the human KCNQ2, human KCNQ3, murine KCNQ2, and rat KCNQ2 proteins reported herein. KCNQ2 and KCNQ3 proteins are nervous system-selective and may be involved in neurotransmission and neuroprotection. The KCNQ2 and KCNQ3 of the present invention can be used to assay for modulators of the proteins, which would be useful in treatment of such disorders as ataxia, myokymia, seizures, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, age-associated memory loss, learning deficiencies, motor neuron diseases, epilepsy, stroke, and the like.

  • Patent number: 6076407
Abstract: A probe for inspecting the inside of a large diameter, substantially vertical, limited access pipe. The probe includes an elongated probe housing having a series of flexible joint along its length to permit the probe to be positioned within the pipe. A plurality of radially extendable guide arms are attached to the lower end of the probe housing for positioning the probe within the pipe and, in the preferred embodiment, a stabilizer weight is attached to the elongated housing adjacent to the guide arms for preventing unstable movement of the probe much like a tail on a kite. In the preferred embodiment, the probe further includes a rotational drive for rotating the plurality of radially extendable guide arms with respect to the elongated housing. In addition, sensors are located on the ends of each guide arm to permit the inside surface of the pipe to be more completely inspected for defects.
