  • Patent number: 4583148
Abstract: An ignition lock for a motor vehicle has a cylinder provided with a recess into which the plunger of an electromagnet can project in the absence of energization of the electromagnet when the ignition switch is in the off position. A remote control circuit for operating the doors of the vehicle is independent of a second circuit for responding to the presence of an appropriate key in the cylinder while a control circuit is responsive to both of these previously mentioned circuits for energizing the electromagnet only when the appropriate signal is received from the remote control unit and when the proper key is inserted in the cylinder so that in the absence of the first-mentioned signal even the proper key will not cause retraction of the plunger to permit the ignition lock to be operated.

  • Patent number: 4328693
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electrically actuated lock of the type comprising a rotor pivoting in a body and capable of being locked in relation to the said body by locking members constituted by pairs of opposed pistons or by keepers. The locking members are displaced by notches of a key, coded to permit the rotation of the rotor by action upon the key head. In this invention the unlocking of the rotor is effected by electric means without any opening of the rotor to the external environment, thus ensuring perfect sealing and inviolability. The lock comprises a key shank provided with coded notches, the shank being connected in translation with the movable armature of an electro-magnet, the rotor being provided with a graspable head by means of which the user can rotate the rotor when unlocked by the key.

  • Patent number: 4211096
Abstract: The automobile security lock is of the kind having a body in which is rotatable a cylinder having pistons radially movable therein by a cylindrical key having notches formed therein. The body also has pistons which cooperate with the pistons in the cylinder. The pistons of the cylinder are slidable into radial cylindrical bores formed in the cylinder. Likewise the pistons in the body slide into radial slots in the body. On entry of the correct key the external extremities of the cylinder pistons lie flush with the external surface of the cylinder in such a manner as to permit rotation of the cylinder in relation to the body. However, on entry of an incorrect key where the corresponding notch is either insufficiently deep or too deep the extremities of the cylinder pistons enter said radial slots in said body or the internal extremities of the body pistons said radial bores in the cylinder to effect locking of the cylinder in relation to the body.

Said rotor contains a plurality of radially slidable pistons cooperating at their inner end with the notches of a key for bringing their other end flush with the periphery of said rotor. Said other end bears against the inner surface of the cavity in which the rotor is journalled and, for one angular position of the rotor, against pistons slidable in the stator and elastically biased toward the rotor. Said pistons of the stator and rotor are flat blanked members. Said pistons are disposed respectively in a single slot of the stator and in a single slot of the rotor and have rectilinear and parallel lateral edges which are in contact with the lateral edge of an adjacent piston or the end of said slot.

  • Patent number: 4176867
Abstract: The locking cap for fuel tanks is provided with electro-mechanical locking means whereby the cap can be unlocked by remote control. The cap comprises a body member having a lid pivotable thereon. A spring-urged pivotable locking device on said body engages a spindle attached to the underside of the lid to hold the latter in a locked position. A spring-urged locking slider engageable with a stop formed on said locking device is controlled by a pair of pivoted armatures which are articulated to said slider. On energization of a U-shaped electromagnet attracting the armatures the latter effect disengagement of the slider from the locking device which releases the spindle thus unlocking the lid.
