  • Patent number: 11620707
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems and methods for prevention of manipulation and gaming in electronic intraday auctions. The system includes using at least one processing device for obtaining orders related to an asset from an electronic trading system. The system includes using at least one processing device for identifying a value for the asset to be used during an intraday auction involving the asset. The identified value is based on a detected order cross within the orders. The value is identified and set prior to the intraday auction. The value is located within a best bid and best offer spread (BBO) band. The system includes using at least one processing device for initiating the intraday auction involving the asset based on the identified and set value and the detected order cross. Changes to the BBO band during the intraday auction do not affect the identified and set value.

  • Patent number: 7065186
Abstract: The present invention allows Internet instant messaging to be accessed via a telephone. Instant messaging access from any telephone in the world may be provided via a telephone messaging system. Alternatively, access can be embodied independently as a stand-alone telephone service, for example provided by a telephone company, provided by a company network, or provided by a user's personal IVR service implemented on his PC. An advantage of the present invention is providing simple, cost effective and readily available access to data network instant messaging from a telephone.

  • Patent number: 6888936
Abstract: During a telephone call, a party to the call may signal (by, for example, sending certain DTMF tones (a wish to provide his or her location to the other party to the call. The central office responds to this request by accessing a subscriber record for the communication line (e.g., subscriber loop) terminating at the requesting party and sending location information in the subscriber record to the other party to the call. Depending upon the technology available, the location information may be supplied in-band or on a parallel datapath.

  • Publication number: 20040202305
Abstract: A telephone system supervises the redirection of an incoming telephone call to a subscriber who is not located at their expected location. Thus, when a calling party attempts to contact a subscriber who is not at their expected location, the system initially leaves the call unanswered (i.e., ringing) while initiating one or more outgoing calls to call forwarding numbers for the subscriber. If no outgoing telephone call is answered, the system directs the incoming telephone call to the subscriber's voice mail, or to another pre-determined location (e.g., an attendant). On the other hand, if the outgoing telephone call is answered, the system answers the incoming telephone call and bridges the incoming call to the answered outgoing call.

  • Patent number: 6735295
Abstract: When a caller calls a call busy called station, the caller may request that a message be provided to the called station while the caller waits. In such instance, the called station receives the message while busy with the other call. The message may be speech indications provided by the caller which are received by the called station at a volume normally associated with a whisper. The speech indications may be recorded from the caller and the caller given an opportunity to edit same before they are sent. The message may also be a text message where the called station supports text or has an associated text-based telephone appliance.

  • Patent number: 6728360
Abstract: Call processing software, methods and equipment providing enhanced notifications are disclosed. Personal agent call processing software executing at a personal agent processor uses existing calling line identification display and calling party name display (CLID/CPND) fields associated with telephony call signals provide these enhanced notification. For example, events that are unrelated to incoming calls may be signaled. Similarly, information derived from incoming CLID information in accordance with subscriber preferences may be provided to a destination. As well, the name or number of the called party and information derived from the CLID/CPND information of the calling party may be provided to a destination. Conveniently, existing telephone appliances capable of display of CLID/CPND information may thus be used to receive a wide variety of notifications.

  • Publication number: 20020076024
Abstract: Methods, devices and software for assessing urgency of incoming communications are disclosed. Using these, the likely urgency of an incoming communication from an originator to a recipient may be assessed using a maintained log of past incoming communications for the recipient. Upon receipt of the incoming communication the log is examined to assess the urgency, taking into account the pattern of prior communications from the originator.

  • Publication number: 20020071546
Abstract: Methods, devices and software for processing incoming communications are disclosed. Incoming messages and calls may be prioritized in accordance with the rank of the message or call originator within the organization. This may be effected by querying an org chart for the organization upon receipt of an incoming communication, in order to assess the rank of the originator. The org chart may be stored in a directory server, and queried by a computing device receiving the message or processing the call. The methods lend themselves to processing received electronic mail messages, telephone calls and the like. In an example embodiment, calls from originators meeting defined criteria may initiate distinctive ringing at the recipient's phone or may signal another device.

  • Patent number: 6125341
Abstract: A speech recognition system having multiple recognition vocabularies, and a method of selecting an optimal working vocabulary used by the system are disclosed. Each vocabulary is particulary suited for recognizing speech in a particular language, or with a particular accent or dialect. The system prompts a speaker for an initial spoken response; receives the initial spoken response; compares the response to each of a set of possible responses in an initial speech recognition vocabulary to determine a response best matched in the initial vocabulary. A working speech recognition vocabulary is selected from a plurality of speech recognition vocabularies, based on the best matched response.

  • Patent number: 5329578
Abstract: A system for providing personal communication services (PCS) is described, wherein a subscriber can tailor the telephone service to provide communication mobility and incoming call management. Calls to a personal number assigned to the subscriber are routed to a PCS service node which will re-route the call according to the subscriber's service profile stored in a database. The service node insures that attempts to communicate with the subscriber are handled with appropriate consideration for who is calling, when the call is made, and the urgency of the call. In addition, the subscriber is given control over how the system will work for them in routing incoming calls.
