  • Patent number: 5271690
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for forming a concrete surface having visual and tactile warning means for pedestrian traffic as well as for the users of wheeled conveyances produced by pouring a prepared concrete mixture into a concrete receiving form, floating the surface of the poured concrete, partially setting the concrete until a plastic state is achieved, covering the surface of the concrete with a release agent of a color different from the color of the concrete. Next, a stamp member is provided having a generally planar stamp surface interrupted by a pattern of indentations formed in the generally planar stamp surface. Additional colored release agent is applied to the stamp member and the stamp member is then positioned onto the concrete surface so that the release agent on the generally planar stamp surface contacts the release agent on the concrete surface.

  • Patent number: 5219511
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of constructing a tool for forming an impression in a surface of a moldable material. The method includes the steps of: providing a mold for forming a tool, the mold including a pattern forming element for forming a pattern in a surface of the tool, and dispensing a first layer of flowable material into the mold. The first layer includes upper and lower surfaces and a predetermined pattern is formed in the lower surface of the first layer. The first layer is substantially hardened and a handle is positioned on the upper surface of the first layer. A second layer of flowable material is dispensed into the mold to cover at least substantially the entire surface of the first layer subsequent to hardening of the first layer, and the second layer is substantially hardened.

  • Patent number: 5061172
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an apparatus for forming a decorative impression in a moldable material and a method of manufacturing the same. Specifically, a preferred embodiment of the present invention is directed to stamping tool for forming decorative patterns in concrete. The stamping tool includes a multi-layered flexible base including first, second and third layers. The first, second and third layers each include an upper and a lower surface. The second layer is positioned intermediate, the first and third layers. The lower surface of the third layer has a predetermined pattern formed therein for forming a corresponding impression in the moldable material. A pair of closed looped handles are secured to the base for permitting the tool to be readily transported from one location to another. The handles include a substantially concave segment disposed above the base and a substantially convex segment embedded therein.
