  • Publication number: 20080154635
Abstract: A healthcare plan provider implements a method for providing a discount program to facilitate the purchase of pharmaceutical products by consumers. The plan provider enters into business relationships with companies that dispense pharmaceuticals to consumers, wherein, pursuant to the business relationships, the companies agree to provide discounts on purchases of pharmaceuticals to consumers displaying a predetermined discount card. The plan provider also engages at least one marketer to market the discount card to consumers. Responsive to information acquired from consumers by the marketer(s), the plan provider issues the predetermined discount card to each of the consumers. The plan provider, preferably using a software application running on a server or other processor, tracks a quantity of prescriptions purchased by the consumers through use of the issued discount cards.

  • Publication number: 20080154649
Abstract: A server maintained by or for a healthcare plan provider facilitates selection by a consumer (e.g., a member of an organization) of a healthcare plan (e.g., discount dental plan) from multiple available healthcare plans. An application running on the server displays a series of questions in a wizard-type format preferably on a screen of the consumer's computer (e.g., via a website hosted on the server and accessed by the member) such that the consumer must answer one question before being presented with a subsequent question. The series of questions relate to the healthcare plan needs of the consumer. The server application electronically receives answers to each question in the series of questions and automatically recommends at least one of the healthcare plans to the consumer based on the consumer's respective answers to the series of questions.

  • Publication number: 20080154759
Abstract: A server maintained by or for a healthcare plan provider arranges and displays healthcare plans in an electronic chart format to a member of an organization preferably on a screen of the member's computer (e.g., via a website hosted on the server and accessed by the member). An application running on the server receives a geographic identifier from the member and determines an availability score for each of the healthcare plans based on the identifier. The application then selects a set of the healthcare plans based on the availability scores and determines a savings score for each of the plans in the set. Each savings score relates to the costs of providing a predetermined group of medical (e.g., dental) procedures. The application then organizes or orders the set of healthcare plans based at least on the availability and savings scores, and displays the ordered set in an electronic chart format.

  • Publication number: 20080154648
Abstract: A method and system for administering healthcare benefits to members of an organization includes issuing voucher codes to the organization for distribution to eligible members of the organization. Members select a healthcare plan from a pool of plans offered by different healthcare insurance providers and enroll by redeeming a voucher code. The organization is billed only for the amount of premiums activated by redeemed voucher codes. Each enrolled member receives a membership card evidencing membership in the selected plan, which may further function as a discount prescription card. In one embodiment, a group of available healthcare plans is displayed to eligible members organized in a chart format. The displayed plans are selected according to availability of each healthcare plan within a given distance of a geographic identifier provided by the organization member and ordered based on a savings score relating to costs of providing a predetermined group of healthcare procedures.
