  • Patent number: 4247345
Abstract: Sections of synthetic materials, such as thermoplastic materials, suitable for use in electrolytic cells for the production of chlorine and sodium hydroxide, are joined together in a reinforced liquid-tight seam by a method which comprises positioning sections of material to be joined adjacent to but spaced apart from each other, to form a gap between the sections, placing a thermoplastic sealing composition in the gap, sewing the sections of synthetic material and the thermoplastic sealing composition together to form a seam, heating the seam to a temperature sufficient to melt the thermoplastic sealing composition without melting the synthetic material or the thread thereby allowing the melted thermoplastic sealing composition to flow to and fill perforations in the synthetic material adjacent to the thread. The seam is then cooled to solidify the thermoplastic sealing composition and to form a reinforced liquid-tight seam between the sections of synthetic material.

  • Patent number: 4117984
Abstract: A granulator is disclosed which has a housing with an entrance, an outlet and a granulation zone therewithin. A screen divides the granulation zone into inlet and outlet regions, a beater assembly passing repeatedly through the inlet region to force material within the inlet region through the screen and into the outlet region. A deflector applies low impact horizontal forces to the material to produce a desired distribution of the material at the outlet.A slidable screen connection can be provided to allow sliding removal of the screen without disassembly of the housing.

  • Patent number: 4089935
Abstract: A process is described for recovering calcium hypochlorite values from the filter media employed in the filtration of calcium hypochlorite slurries. Deposits of Ca(OCl).sub.2 along with insoluble materials adhering to the filter media are washed with an aqueous solution of calcium hypochlorite to form a slurry of calcium hypochlorite solids. Water is used to wash the filter media to dissolve any remaining Ca(OCl).sub.2 and form a solution of calcium hypochlorite. The slurry and solution are then admixed to provide a solution of calcium hypochlorite whose concentration is controlled within the range of from about 45 to about 215 grams per liter of Ca(OCl).sub.2. This solution is employed in the production of calcium hypochlorite and is recycled to the washing step.
