  • Publication number: 20060221777
Abstract: A method for labeling an optically writable label side of an optical disc of one embodiment of the invention is disclosed which includes at least one of the following. First, the method may multiply pass over a track of the optically writable label side of the optical disc with an optical marking mechanism, such that the optical marking mechanism writes to the track during each pass. Second, the method may advance the optical marking mechanism from the track to a next track of the optically writable label side of the optical disc, such that a starting position on the track is radially non-collinear with a starting position on the next track.

  • Publication number: 20060082561
Abstract: A display device for displaying an image using a first sub-frame and a second sub-frame is provided. The display device comprises an array having a first plurality of pixels and a second plurality of pixels offset from but overlapping the first plurality of pixels and a control unit. The control unit is configured to cause the array to display the first sub-frame using the first plurality of pixels, and the control unit is configured to cause the array to display the second sub-frame using the second plurality of pixels.

  • Publication number: 20060017754
Abstract: A method for labeling a plurality of tracks on a medium is disclosed. The method detects one or more contiguous blank pixels at the conclusion of a data set representing a first track. An ending position for the first track is set at a last non-blank pixel. At least a portion of the first track up to the ending position is labeled before advancing to a second track.

  • Publication number: 20060017793
Abstract: In various embodiments, an optical disc drive, programs embodiment in computer readable media, and related methods for writing a label to an optical disc using an optical disc drive. In one embodiment, a label is written on the optical disc, the label being embodied in a plurality of tracks that are written onto a surface of the optical disc. A delay is imposed between the writing of consecutive ones of the tracks in the optical disc drive. The length of the delay is determined in part by a length of time it takes to transition from a completion of a first one of the tracks to a starting position to write a next consecutive one of the tracks.

  • Publication number: 20050243338
Abstract: Methods for generating a curved raster image are disclosed. The method includes providing a rectangular raster image, defining a curved raster geometry and coordinate system on a curved track, thus forming a curved raster, and tracing along the curved raster to define a plurality of data locations. The method further includes computing curved raster data for each of the plurality of data locations from the rectangular raster image, thus creating the curved raster image.

  • Publication number: 20050151998
Abstract: A method of printing printed content includes creating one or more print files defining the printed content such that the print files adhere to a pre-defined format. The method also includes using the print files to render the printed content to a print device. The pre-defined format is configured to allow the print files to be modified after the print files have been initially created.

  • Publication number: 20050041092
Abstract: A method of one embodiment of the invention is disclosed that receives information to be optically written on an optically writable label side of an optical disc. The method formats the information so that the information is optically written on a least number of tracks of the optically writable label side of the optical disc, to minimize optical writing time of the information to the optically writable label side of the optical disc.

  • Publication number: 20050019522
Abstract: A method of one embodiment of the invention is disclosed that is for a track of an optically writable label region of an optical disc having a non-integer number of pixel positions around the track, such that a last fractional pixel position is defined. The method determines whether the size of the last fractional pixel position is greater than a fractional threshold. In response to determining that the size of the last fractional pixel position is greater than the fractional threshold, the method writes a complete pixel to the last fractional pixel position, such that the complete pixel written overlaps onto a first complete pixel position of the track.
