  • Publication number: 20240116207
Abstract: A sealant spreader device fills voids around a drilled hole with sealant in glued-in-rod (GIR) structures. A liquid sealant may be applied to the base of a drilled hole. A sealant spreader device is then inserted to the base of the drilled hole, through the sealant. The sealant spreader device is then withdrawn while rotating. The sealant spreader device includes winged sections having contours which force the sealant radially outward toward walls of the hole, into any voids around the circumference of the drilled hole, and leaves a thin layer of sealant around the circumference of the drilled hole.

  • Publication number: 20220314485
Abstract: A glued-in-rod wooden structure includes a prepared hole for sealing voids which may be open to the prepared hole. In one example, the prepared hole is filled with an expanding foam which at least partially fills and seals the voids open to the prepared hole. Thereafter, the prepared hole may be enlarged by drilling to its final diameter for receiving the rod. Any voids in the enlarged hole remain sealed by the expanding foam.

  • Patent number: 8689518
Abstract: A continuity tie is provided for connecting a prefabricated shearwall to a structural member above the prefabricated shearwall. In the preferred embodiment, the continuity tie is a steel tube with aligned openings for receiving a threaded rod therethrough. The tube is welded to the shearwall. A pair of tubes are preferably attached. Nuts attach the threaded rod to the tube. The threaded rod attaches to a structural member above the tube.

  • Patent number: 8336267
Abstract: A shear lug is disclosed for transferring shear stresses from a structural element, such as a column in a framing element, down into the foundation supporting the framing element. The shear lug is not initially affixed to the structural element. The shear lug is instead affixed to anchor rods of an anchorage assembly, and is installed into the foundation with the anchorage assembly at the time the concrete foundation is poured. The structural element is subsequently affixed to the anchor rods, so that shear forces are transferred from the structural element, through the anchor rods and to the shear lugs, which effectively dissipate the shear forces to the foundation.
