Patent number: 8172134Abstract: An automatic banking machine operates responsive to data read from data bearing records to cause financial transfers. The machine includes a card reader that reads data corresponding to financial accounts from user cards, and carries out transactions related to the accounts. The machine includes a camera, a microphone, and the card reader at a customer interface located at the front of the machine. A servicer display device is at a servicer interface located at the rear of the machine. The customer interface and servicer interface can be placed in audio/visual communication. Although a front servicer may not be directly visible to a rear servicer, they are still able to communicate with each other through the customer interface and servicer interface during machine servicing. The servicer interface can also be used to allow a lone servicer to be audibly/visually alerted to a potential customer approaching the machine.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2011Date of Patent: May 8, 2012Assignee: Diebold Self-Service Systems division of Diebold, IncorporatedInventors: Natarajan Ramachandran, Jeffrey A. Hill, James Booth, Pedro Tula, Paul Mercina

Patent number: 7926712Abstract: An automated banking machine includes a cash dispenser. Servicing the automated banking machine by on-site servicer is facilitated through use of a portable diagnostic article which can instruct the machine computer to gather machine diagnostic data and then record the gathered machine diagnostic data onto the portable diagnostic article. The gathered diagnostic data recorded on the portable diagnostic article can then be analyzed by an analysis computer. The machine computer can verify that a portable diagnostic article is authorized to instruct the machine based on obtaining a secret code from the portable diagnostic article.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2010Date of Patent: April 19, 2011Assignee: Diebold Self-Service SystemsInventors: Mark R. Schlabach, James Meek, Damon J. Blackford, Robert W. Barnett, Joseph P. Newman, Paul Mercina, Steven Shepley, Glenda Griswold, Christyan Moauro, Nick Billett

Patent number: 7832629Abstract: An automatic banking machine includes a card reader for reading user cards, and a cash dispenser. A movable camera is positionable within the ATM housing. The automated banking machine carries out transactions related to user accounts based on information read from cards. Service personnel are enabled to direct the camera toward regions of machine components while conducting service activities that are not directly visible by a servicer. A camera assembly includes a microphone to sense sounds associated with machine components during test operations. The generated data may be used by an on-site servicer, or sent to an entity at a remote location. The visual images may be used to enhance diagnostic and servicing capabilities.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2007Date of Patent: November 16, 2010Assignee: Diebold Self-Service Systems division of Diebold, IncorporatedInventors: Natarajan Ramachandran, Jeffrey A. Patent number: 7740169Abstract: An automated banking machine (10) includes a cash dispenser (54). Servicing the machine is facilitated through use of a portable diagnostic article (98) which enables the controller to access diagnostic data stored in memory and which provides data indicative of the significance of the diagnostic data. A portable article of computer readable and writable media (314) is also operative to cause the computer to gather data concerning the banking machine and record it on the media through a drive (312). The data gathered is then analyzed by a separate analysis computer (324).Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2008Date of Patent: June 22, 2010Assignee: Diebold Self-Service Systems division of Diebold, IncorporatedInventors: Mark R. Schlabach, James Meek, Damon J. Blackford, Robert W. Barnett, Joseph P. Newman, Paul Mercina, Steven Shepley, Glenda Griswold, Christyan Moauro, Nick Billett
