  • Publication number: 20170215102
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed that provide a network that may determine the presence of it caused by an interfering system transmitting within the same frequency bands, or frequency bands closely adjacent to frequency bands, that the network is using, and initiate action to improve network performance in the presence of the interference. The presence of the interference may be determined by detecting that interference at a threshold level exists in the network, and determining that the detected interference is “aggressive” interference, i.e., caused by intentional transmissions from the interfering system in frequency bands in which the network is operating.

  • Publication number: 20170201895
Abstract: Methods and apparatus in a wireless network that allow devices, such as client devices and access points (APs), having software defined radios (SDRs) to change operating behavior depending on network RF environment conditions are disclosed. The devices may be instructed to operate according to differently defined behavior profiles that may be chosen based on RF environment conditions. The profiles may be stored in a database. A particular profile may be obtained from the database for one or more devices based on an interference level within an RF environment of the devices. The profiles may be implemented to change device operating behavior so that interference is reduced or minimized in higher levels of interference. The profiles may also be implemented to change device behavior so that interference is reduced in lower levels of interference while also freeing up resources for more efficient use in network during lower levels of interference.

  • Publication number: 20170055200
Abstract: Opportunistic use of spectrum is disclosed that allows a device access to a wireless local area network (WLAN) when necessary on a restricted frequency band and provides efficient scanning and switching of device communications to an unrestricted frequency band when channels become available in the unrestricted frequency band. A device operating in the network on the restricted frequency band may receive information on a channel set over a channel in the restricted frequency band. The channel set may be a subset of channels in the network and indicate network channels available for potential use in the unrestricted frequency band. The device may then only scan the subset of channels in the channel set to search for available channels in the unrestricted band. The channel set may be determined by the network based on the operation of the device in the coverage of the restricted frequency band.

  • Publication number: 20160097639
Abstract: There is disclosed a shoe mounted gradiometer tool. The tool includes an enclosed housing having a convex interior base and a transparent top. A ball is disposed within the enclosed housing. The ball is sized and shaped to roll on the convex interior base. There is a mounting piece connected to the enclosed housing for securing the enclosed housing to an exterior surface of a shoe. The position of the shoe mounted gradiometer tool may be adjusted by placing a fastener through a fastener-receiving hole on the mounting piece. The fastener is loosely connected to a shoe. The orientation of the housing is adjusted by pivoting the housing around the fastener-receiving hole so that a marked level position of the tool corresponds to the lowest position of the convex interior base. The mounting piece is then mounted fixedly to the shoe.

  • Publication number: 20160027123
Abstract: Automatically tagging a trial balance is disclosed. The trial balance is received in a user specific format. Items in the trial balance are analyzed to identify a first item that likely corresponds to a first data grouping of a first data subset of the trial balance. Items in the trial balance are analyzed to identify a second item that likely corresponds to a second data grouping of a second data subset of the trial balance. Information is provided to display at least a portion of the first data subset of the trial balance identified as the first data grouping and to display at least a portion of the second data subset of the trial balance identified as the second data grouping to facilitate user verification of the identification of the first data subset as the first data grouping and the identification of the second data subset as the second data grouping.

  • Publication number: 20150115089
Abstract: A cylindrical cartridge used for the storage and protection of all types of barrier fencing. The device is designed to extend the life of barrier fencing, reduce waste and reduce cost. The cartridge has an interior hollow pipe shaft with rollers mounted to the shaft to create a spool. The spool shaft extends through the top of the cartridge and is fitted with a manually operated crank handle. A vertical slotted opening in the side of the cartridge of varying widths dependent on the barrier material being used allows the extraction and retraction of the barrier fencing. The bottom of the cartridge has an opening in the centre equal to that of the interior dimension of the hollow shaft. The bottom opening allows for the mounting of the cartridge to a ground spike or stabilizing plate.

  • Patent number: 8954303
Abstract: A process-based model of a geological volume of interest is generated. The process-based model is conditioned with conditioning information associated with the geological volume of interest. Statistics are generated from the process-based model that represent parameters of the geological volume of interest locally. These statistics are used to constrain one or more geostatistical models of the geological volume of interest.

  • Patent number: 8509637
Abstract: A metering skive for a dry electrophotographic (EP) printer is mounted on a retractable skive mount. The skive mount is spring-loaded to a mounting block, and a stop pin sets the distance between the skive mount and the mounting block. A movable spacer with a plurality of laterally-separated regions of respective, different thicknesses is mounted between the head of the stop pin and the mounting block. A retractor can be operated to pull the skive mount towards the mounting block so the spacer can be moved to select a desired spacing between the mounting block and the skive mount, and thus a desired gap between the metering skive and the toning member in the printer.
