  • Publication number: 20240166364
Abstract: A monitoring system includes a movable surface of an aircraft, an actuation system for the movable surface of an aircraft including actuators, a first position sensor adapted to measure a position of a first actuator of the actuators and a second position sensor adapted to measure a position of a second actuator of the actuators. The monitoring system also includes a first force sensor adapted to measure forces passing through the first actuator of the actuators and a second force sensor of the at least two force sensors being adapted to measure forces passing through the second actuator of the actuators. The monitoring system also includes a calculator configured to detect skew of the movable surface and excess force passing through the first and/or second actuator from the position obtained by the at least two position sensors and the force measured by the at least two force sensors.

  • Patent number: 9460017
Abstract: Systems, methods, and storage mediums storing executable instructions are disclosed for providing efficient cache mirroring, particularly in a distributed storage environment. In particular, in an aspect, a machine-implemented method, comprises: receiving an I/O request from an application; splitting the I/O request into cache LBAs and non-cache LBAs; storing the cache LBAs in a cache LUN; preparing one or more mirror write descriptors based on the cache LBAs, wherein each mirror write descriptor includes a data location and a data length; and sending the mirroring data structure and the cache LBAs to a mirroring device to store a back-up of the cache LUN. In an aspect, sending the mirroring data structure and the cache LBAs is accomplished in a single I/O request to the mirroring device.

  • Patent number: 7392459
Abstract: At the receiver in a wireless communications system, the likelihood of a false CRC pass that can occur when a weak received signal produces an all ZERO output from a convolutional or a turbo decoder is minimized. To prevent an all ZERO output, a convolutional decoder selects from among those determined equally most likely transmitted sequences of bits in a data block one that has a weight greater than the one having the minimum weight. A turbo decoder selects a ONE rather than a ZERO as the value of a transmitted bit in a data block when for that bit a bit value of a ZERO and a ONE are determined to be equally likely.

  • Patent number: 4062521
Abstract: The invention relates to road safety barriers, especially for highways, and of the kind comprising a plurality of modules coupled to each other by at least one linear element which may be under mechanical tension, the modules being composed of a material capable of bursting under an internal tension due to the linear elements which pass through the modules and are embedded in the mass of the modules, whereby the module struck by a vehicle out of control bursts, possibly together with the neighboring modules. The assembly of modules and linear elements is not fixed on the ground but is free to slide laterally under the impact of a vehicle. The constituent material of the modules may comprise a mixture of a synthetic or natural plastic material and a binder consisting of cement, mortar or plaster, and the linear elements may be formed by steel cables or ropes, or chains of links, the links being formed from the metal reinforcing belts of pneumatic tires.
