  • Patent number: 11831143
Abstract: Disclosed are power distribution systems and methods in which a power distribution unit (PDU) is provided with an overcurrent protection device and per-outlet current sensing at each of the multiple electrical outlets of the PDU. The described embodiments enable the identification of the electronic device connected to a specific outlet or electronic device that may have caused the overcurrent protection device to trip. The methods of outlet identification in a PDU having multiple electrical outlets includes detecting whether either a peak current or a half-cycle root mean square (RMS) current at each outlet has exceeded a selected threshold prior to the occurrence of the trip event associated with the overcurrent protection device.

  • Publication number: 20210227788
Abstract: A collar is provided for protecting animals from neck bites from predators. The collar is formed of individual segments in pivoting engagements with each other and has a fastener to engage a first end to a second end of the collar. Contact between opposing edges of each engaged segment prevents collapse of the collar and maintains the size or distance of the interior diameter of the collar during predator attacks which impart force to opposing sides of the collar.

  • Publication number: 20200296928
Abstract: A predator dissuading vest is provided for pets and other animals. The vest is configured to employ bristles extending from engagements with the vest to distal ends and spikes as a deterrent to an attack by a predator. Conductors for an electric shock can also be included as an additional predator dissuading component.

  • Publication number: 20190114858
Abstract: An access control system for controlling access to equipment racks in a data center. Each rack has a door and a latch that can lock the door to prevent access to the equipment in the rack and that can unlock the door to permit such access. Access to the rack (i.e. to the equipment therein) is granted when an authorized service technician causes an identification token (such as a card) to be read by a reading means responsive to the identification token (such as a smart card reader if the identification token is a smart card or an iButton reader if the identification token is an iButton) that is associated with each rack. Alternatively, the reading means can be a biometric sensor that e.g. reads the technician's fingerprint or the technician's retinal eye pattern. The equipment in the rack can be supplied with power by an intelligent power distribution unit (iPDU).
