Patent number: 6654249Abstract: A circuit arrangement includes a base body, with one or more substrates, an intermediate-circuit board, a compression device and a driver circuit. Each substrate includes a positive-pole conductive strip, a negative-pole conductive strip, and auxiliary connections. Components such as power transistors, are in contact with the conductive strips and the auxiliary connections. The intermediate-circuit board includes a positive-pole DC connection and negative-pole DC connection and electrical capacitors connected between them. An AC connection element that must be cooled is assigned to each substrate. The positive-pole DC connection and the negative-pole DC connection include contacts for direct low-inductance connection with the corresponding conductive strips of the one or more substrates. The equivalent applies to the one or more AC connection elements.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2002Date of Patent: November 25, 2003Assignee: Semikron Elektronix GmbHInventors: Christian Göbl, Werner Trusky, Jürgen Steger, Peter Beckedahl, Paul Mourick

Patent number: 6381161Abstract: The invention relates to a circuit with low parasitic inductances, reduced current flow paths, and reduced current-circumfusion. The circuit includes a ceramic substrate supporting mutually insulated metallic connection webs and a first and a second series-connected power switch. Each power switch includes a first and a second power transistor connected in parallel and DC and AC leads. The insulation layer separates the conduction webs from a supporting substrate and is effective to minimize any parasitic inductances in the circuit arrangement.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2001Date of Patent: April 30, 2002Assignee: Semikron Elektronik GmbHInventor: Paul Mourick

Patent number: 5949273Abstract: A power semiconductor circuit provides a simple gate drive for switch components for the use in parallel-connected half-bridges, taking into consideration a gate voltage limitation to achieve short-circuit resistance. The circuit consists of drive circuits and main power circuits. The present invention contributes to solving the problems of the influence of the main power circuit on the drive circuit. According to the invention, switching transistors connected in parallel to the driver through separate activation and deactivation resistors, the former of relatively low resistance and the latter of relatively high resistance. Each of the switching transistors has an emitter resistor connected in parallel with a respective clamping diode to a sum point at ground, the cathode to the emitter. Each of the activation resistors is connected in series to the driver through a respective diode whose cathode is connected to the activation resistor.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1997Date of Patent: September 7, 1999Assignee: Semikron Elektronik GmbHInventors: Paul Mourick, Dejan Schreiber, Erik Anderlohr

Patent number: 4281376Abstract: A protected converter arrangement having electronic power circuitry using controlled valves and electronic information-processing control circuitry. The electronic power circuitry is provided only once, but the electronic information-processing circuitry is redundant and contains at least two complete control units. One unit leads and controls the electronic power circuit and at least one other unit operates in parallel, in standby condition. A monitoring device is associated with the control units and, in the event of a disturbance in the leading control unit, switches control of the electronic power circuit to an undisturbed control unit. The arrangement is especially suitable for use in protected converter arrangements which provide interruption-free supply of a load, having the advantage that the expensive electronic power circuitry is provided only once and is not operated in partial-load operation.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 1979Date of Patent: July 28, 1981Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Eberhard Munchow, Paul Mourick, Jurgen Strop

Patent number: 4095151Abstract: An a-c series motor with a switching device for changing from motor to braking operation has a series circuit consisting of a capacitor and a charging diode associated therewith, in which, in order to avoid an additional resistor for limiting the charging current for the capacitor, the capacitor and the charging diode are connected in such a manner that the armature winding is shunted by the series circuit consisting of the capacitor and the charging diode, a switch contact being arranged between the center of this series circuit and the external terminal of the field winding, so that in motor operation, a series circuit consisting of the capacitor, the charging diode and the field winding is connected between the terminals of the a-c series motor and in braking operation, the armature winding in series with the field winding is shunted by the capacitor.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1976Date of Patent: June 13, 1978Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventor: Paul Mourick
