  • Patent number: 5943883
Abstract: A circular knitting machine for knitting patterned knitted fabrics (19) contains a preferably rotatable needle carrier (1) having knitting needles (3) distributed along a needle ring, selection devices (6) for selection of the knitting needles (3) in accordance with the pattern, a plurality of yarn guides (17) attached to the selection devices (6) to feed yarns (18) to the knitting needles (3), whereby these yarn guides (17) are arranged so that the yarns (18) are picked up by selected knitting needles (3) and tied into the knitted fabric (19) but passed over by non-selected knitting needles (3) with the formation of yarn floats, and at least one cutting device located within the needle ring for cutting through yarn floats of a given minimum length such that yarn ends on the fabric side and the yarn guide side are formed and the yarn ends on the yarn guide side remain in a position in the catchment area of the selected knitting needles that intersects with the needle ring.

  • Patent number: 5570593
Abstract: A strand feeding device can be switched from positive strand feed to intermittent strand feed and vice versa. This is achieved with the aid of a strand guide element which is associated with a lower edge of a storage drum and can be adjusted by an electromagnetic setting member selectively to a first position allowing the intermittent strand feed and a second position producing the positive strand feed.

  • Patent number: 5544504
Abstract: A device for a circular knitting machine for blowing away fluff or the like is provided, having a plurality of blower openings each arranged to move to and fro on a circular path section, and a source of compressed air connected to the blower openings. The device further comprises a holder (23) mounted to rotate to and fro, with a plurality of tubes (28) extending substantially radially and leading to the blower openings, and a distribution device (34) connectible to the source of compressed air. By means of the distribution device (34) the tubes (28) can be connected to the source of compressed air in a predetermined sequence individually or in groups. Also a circular knitting machine have such a device is provided (FIG. 1).

  • Patent number: 5239843
Abstract: For the production of plush knitted goods containing stitches made from main and plush threads, main threads and plush threads are fed to hooks and sinkers, at least the plush threads are pre-formed to plush thread loops by drawing back the knitting tools from a plush thread receiving position into an intermediate position and by, in so doing, drawing and holding taut the plush threads over associated ones of the sinkers, then stitches are formed with the main threads and plush thread loops by drawing back the knitting tools farther into a knocking-over position and by, in doing so, controlling the sinkers in such a way that the pre-formed plush thread loops are held in taut during the stitch formation and that the risk of shortening or undoing of pre-formed plush thread loops during such stitch formation is greatly diminished.

  • Patent number: 5186025
Abstract: The invention relates to a plush or pile knitted fabric comprising a basic knit including a multiplicity of courses and plush yarns or pile fibres which are bound into the basic knit. The basic knit comprises a plain knit formed with at least one basic yarn (1). In accordance with the invention at least one second basic yarn (5) is incorporated into each course in such a way that it is knitted to form stitches (19) at least in selected courses formed with the first basic yarn (1), or forms single-yarn float loops (7) which are disposed between same.

  • Patent number: 4955211
Abstract: A circular knitting machine for producing a single face plush article of base threads and plush threads has a needle cylinder provided with a plurality of needles and a plate ring provided with separately controlled and differently shaped plates. A first plate has a slot for receiving a base thread and a stepped ridge for applying a plush thread, and a second plate is provided with a recess in the region of the slot of the first plate. The second plate has a plate tip formed above the recess and is provided for a plaiting with a plush thread-pressing edge. The plush thread-pressing edge is formed on the plate tip and extends in an inclined manner to the slot of the first plate and to a shaft of an associated one of the needles.
