Publication number: 20230000645Abstract: A method of performing arthroplasty of an anatomical joint for receipt of an implant is disclosed. The method includes developing a preoperative plan, designing a patient specific guide based on the preoperative plan, obtaining the patient specific guide, placing the patient specific guide relative to the identified bone, fixing a pair of pins into the bone to establish an Alpha plane and executing the preoperative plan while referencing the Alpha plane. A desired amount of remaining first bone is determined based on a condition of the anatomical joint and a desired orientation of the implant. The patient specific guide includes a pair of bores defined therein and located in positions to accept a complementary pair of pins. The bores are arranged at locations on the patient specific guide to orient the respective pins in a direction optimized for surgeon access to the first bone and to establish the Alpha plane.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 13, 2022Publication date: January 5, 2023Applicant: O'Grady Orthopaedics, LLCInventor: Christopher Paul O'Grady

Publication number: 20210353489Abstract: A vibrotactile support with suppressed distortion and destructive interference having a rigid frame within which is tensioned a high-density material panel in a supportive configuration. A low-durometer, high specific gravity material user interface pad is placed on the high-density panel on the user-supporting side and a plurality of acoustic drivers are attached to the opposing side of the high-density material panel to transmit vibrations through the high-density material panel, the pad, and the user's skin. The acoustic drivers are supplied from an amplifier which is supplied from an electronic audio source. The amplifier may also drive a set of headphones for the user. The audio source may be from any known electronic audio source, including audio-visual presentations. Various shapes and configurations of the vibrotactile support are possible. For non-limiting examples, the vibrotactile support may be configured as a lounge chair, upright chair, baby cradle, or flat bed.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 12, 2020Publication date: November 18, 2021Inventors: Paul O'Grady, Steven W. Patent number: 10668244Abstract: An apparatus and method for use in treating tinnitus, employs a sound processing unit, a tactile unit, and an interface therebetween. The tactile unit comprises an array of stimulators each of which can be independently actuated to apply a tactile stimulus to a subject, and an input for receiving a plurality of actuation signals from the interface and directing individual actuation signals to individual stimulators. The sound processing unit receives an audio signal at an input, analyses the signal with a digital signal processor to generate the actuation signals which are representative of the audio signal, and provides the plurality of actuation signals to the interface. In a preferred embodiment the digital signal processor divides the audio signal into a series of frames in the time domain, performs a transform on each frame to generate a set of coefficients representing said frame, and maps the set of coefficients to a set of actuation signals to be applied to the array.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 2017Date of Patent: June 2, 2020Assignee: National University of IrelandInventors: Paul O'Grady, Ross O'Neill, Barak A. Patent number: 5570976Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of bolts, bars, wires, anchors and similar devices used for example as ground or rock support, reinforcement and anchors in geological environments such as mines, tunnels, etc. It also relates to stabilization and/or reinforcing applications for other geological ore earthwork applications. The invention is a cable bolt comprising at least two wires, and being adopted to have a nut threaded directly onto at least one of the wires. When the cable bolt is a multistrand (steel) cable, the outer wires (11) have a thread (13) formed upon them for a nut to engage. Alternatively, instead of a thread, a pattern of deformations could be used, then a nut or other member being locked onto these deformations. Preferably, the threads or deformations are rolled into the wires so that material is not removed and work hardening occurs.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1994Date of Patent: November 5, 1996Assignee: J.J.P.
