  • Patent number: 10030192
Abstract: Of the many compositions and methods provided herein, one method includes using a latex emulsion to treat well bore tar comprising. The method comprises providing a latex emulsion comprising a tar stabilizing polymer and water, combining the latex emulsion with alcohol, introducing a treatment fluid comprising the latex emulsion into a well bore, and contacting tar resident in the well bore with the treatment fluid wherein the latex emulsion at least partially reduces the tendency of the tar to adhere to a surface.

  • Patent number: 9745825
Abstract: To deploy a capillary string through a wellhead to a downhole safety valve, a control port and a retention port are drilled in an adapter between a casing hanger and a gate valve or elsewhere. The capillary string is connected to a first port of a capillary hanger and installed through the wellhead. The capillary hanger is landed on a tubing hanger, and a side port on the capillary hanger communicates with the control port. Because the side port's location may not align with the control port, operators may need to measure how long the capillary hanger should be. A control line connects to the control port in the wellhead's side to communicate with the capillary line, and a retention rod inserts in the retention port to support the capillary hanger.

  • Patent number: 9247170
Abstract: An image sensor having pixel circuitry operable in multiple gain modes is provided. The pixel circuitry may include first and second floating diffusion (FD) regions, a first photodiode coupled to the first FD region via a first transfer gate, a second photodiode coupled to the first FD region via a second transfer gate, a third photodiode coupled to the second FD region via a third transfer gate, and a fourth photodiode coupled to the second FD region via a fourth transfer gate. The first FD region may be coupled to the second FD region via first and second control transistors. The control transistors may be connected to a shared reset transistor. During readout, both control transistors may be deactivated to provide a high gain mode, only one transistor may be activated to provide an intermediate gain mode, or both control transistors may be activated to provide a low gain mode.

  • Patent number: 9175204
Abstract: An inhibitive water-based polymer mud system and method for using the system in drilling and in stabilizing wellbores is disclosed for use in water sensitive formations as an alternative to oil-based muds or water-based muds comprising ferro-chrome lignosulfonates. The system comprises a fresh water or salt water base thinned or dispersed with a sulfonated acrylic copolymer having a hybrid/graft lignosulfonate multipolymer structure containing carboxylate and sulfonate functional groups with synthetic polymer side chains covalently linked to a base lignosulfonate material, having a molecular weight in the range of about 1,000 to about 15,000, and having a high anionic charge density. This system is effective and has stable rheology over a broad pH range, even at a near neutral pH of 8.0. The drilling fluids do not contain heavy metals and are rheologically tolerant to contaminants such as cement, anhydrite and sodium and temperatures as high as about 400° F.

  • Patent number: 9129872
Abstract: A photodiodes may be formed on a substrate such as an imager substrate. The photodiode may include first and second layers in the substrate that form a p-n junction. The first layer may have a first doping type such as p-type doping, whereas the second layer may have a second, opposite doping type such as n-type doping. A counter-doping implant region may be provided that only partially overlaps with the second layer of the photodiode. The counter-doping implant region may have an opposite doping type to the second layer and may have a dopant concentration that is less than the dopant concentration of the second layer. The counter-doping implant region may extend into a third layer of the substrate that may have the same doping type of the second layer but at a lower concentration than the counter-doping implant region.
