Abstract: A system for constructing modular furniture from one or more file boxes. The system includes a rigid rectangular frame having top and bottom faces adapted to engage the file boxes. The top face has a rim extending up from the top face for surrounding a file box mounted on the top face. The bottom face has a rim extending down from the bottom face for surrounding a file box mounted on the bottom face.

Abstract: A blank for constructing a box file, card index box, or the like which, in the made up form includes a pair of similar half shells hinged together along a common edge. The blank includes a pair of base members each having outwardly extending side portions on at least three sides which can be bent up to form side walls. Each side portion is joined to the adjacent side portion by an inwardly foldable connection section which is adapted to form a right angled corner when the blank is folded into shape. An interconnecting or stacking system for the file storing boxes is also provided. The stacking system includes a connector body having a slot or aperture and a generally U-shaped clip member having a pair of legs. Each leg of the clip is adapted to fit in a respective slot of the connector body. When two such connector bodies are suitably positioned in the adjacent walls of two corresponding boxes, the boxes may be clipped together by inserting the legs of the clip member into the adjacent slots.

Abstract: A closure catch of resilient plastics material comprising two co-operating body parts (124, 126) adapted to fit onto the edges of the lid and sidewalls of a box file to hold it closed. The first member (124) carries an outwardly facing projection (160) which is engaged by a corresponding inwardly-facing projection (162) on a tongue (138) of the second member (126) which fits into the recess and has an actuating member (164) for opening the catch. The part (124) may also carry an inwardly projecting retaining member (128) to releasably retain an insert (130) in the box, for example a concertina file.

Abstract: A filing system comprising a box file and a concertina file which is housed in the box file, the box file preferably being split into two parts along a diagonal of the end walls, so that it can be opened out onto a surface and the concertina file can then be extended out of it to allow access to the contents. In alternative forms the end walls are divided along different lines (for example into an L-shape) and the box may be formed from a blank of sheet material such as cardboard, or it may be moulded from a resilient plastics material.

Abstract: A storage box for documents, files or the like, and having a generally rectangular body (2) with one open side for access which is sloped or angled, relative to the opposite side. Three of the side edges of the opening are also inwardly flanged, and a slightly smaller lid (4) of co-operating shape is hinged to the fourth edge (6) or to the edge of an insert (30) which divides the interior into sections. The insert may divide the interior into two or more such sections depending on the application.
