Abstract: The present invention is a universal limited reuse assembly for an ophthalmic hand piece having a power source for providing power to a tip segment, a controller for controlling the operation of the tip segment, a motor with a shaft, a mechanical linkage interface located on an end of the shaft, an interface for connecting the limited reuse assembly to the tip segment, and a housing at least partially enclosing the power source, the controller, and the motor. The limited reuse assembly is connectable to and removable from two or more types of tip segments. Each of the two or more types of tip segments is configured to perform a different procedure.
