  • Patent number: 11168206
Abstract: The present invention relates to an acrylic process aid useful in vinyl foam extrusion. The process aid is an acrylic copolymer containing from 50 to 79 weight percent of methyl methacrylate monomer units and has a Tg of less than 90° C., preferably less than 70° C., and more preferably less than 65° C. PVC and CPVC foams containing this acrylic process aid fuse faster at the same temperature, or fuse in the same time at lower temperatures than foam formulations currently used.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 5, 2019
Date of Patent: November 9, 2021
    Assignee: Arkema Inc.

  • Patent number: 9670331
Abstract: The density of rigid foamed articles made by the thermal decomposition of a blowing agent in a vinyl chloride polymer is reduced by the use of a tin based blowing agent activator(s). The tin based activator also reduces the activation temperature of a chemical blowing agent, allowing for more optimal evolution of gas during plastic processing. Dibutyl tin oxide or tin maleates are superior activators of vinyl chloride polymer blowing agents.

  • Patent number: 9587100
Abstract: The invention relates to an acrylic copolymer additive useful as a process aid in highly filled polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) composites. The acrylic additive is especially useful in highly filled PVC flooring tiles, rolled flooring, pipe and siding. The acrylic copolymer additive contains from 50 to 79 weight percent of methyl methacrylate monomer units, and has a Tg of less than 90° C.
