  • Patent number: 11976611
Abstract: A gas turbine engine for an aircraft comprises, in axial flow sequence, a compressor module, a combustor module, and a turbine module, with a first electric machine being rotationally connected to the turbine module. The first electrical machine is configured to generate a maximum electrical power PEM1 (W), and the gas turbine engine is configured to generate a maximum dry thrust T (N); and a ratio S of: S = ( Maximum ? Electrical ? Power ? Generated = P E ? M ? 1 ) ( Maximum ? Dry ? Thrust = T ) is in a range of between 2.0 and 10.0.

  • Patent number: 11143078
Abstract: A system for the treatment of exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine with a combustion chamber includes an upstream DEF injector disposed to introduce DEF to the combustion chamber and a close-coupled SCR catalyst downstream of and in close-coupled relation to the internal combustion engine. Downstream of the close-coupled SCR catalyst may be a primary SCR catalyst and a primary DEF injector. The system may operate to reduce NO2 in the close-coupled SCR catalyst during low-load conditions of the internal combustion engine and reduce NO2 in the primary SCR catalyst during loaded conditions.

  • Publication number: 20210189982
Abstract: A powertrain for a machine includes an internal combustion engine, an aftertreatment system including a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst for treating exhaust gases from the internal combustion engine, and a continuously variable transmission operatively coupled to the internal combustion engine. An electronic controller can measure a catalyst temperature of the SCR catalyst and can inversely adjust an engine speed and a CVT output to selectively regulate a catalyst temperature of the SCR catalyst. In an embodiment, the CVT may be a hydro-mechanical transmission including a hydrostatic transmission and a mechanical transmission.

  • Publication number: 20150059663
Abstract: A cooling system for a machine system is disclosed herein. The machine system includes an internal combustion engine, a plurality of heat generating systems, an energy recovery system, and a cooling system. The energy recovery system is adapted to produce an electrical output and includes a condenser to condense a working fluid that circulates within the machine. The cooling system includes a plurality of fans, a condenser fan, and a control unit. The plurality of fans and the condenser fan are powered by the electrical output. The fans are adapted to cool the heat generating systems. The condenser fan is adapted to cool the condenser. The control unit is adapted to selectively control each of the plurality of fans, based on load requirements of the corresponding heat generating system. Therefore, the control unit optimizes and maximizes heat transfer by the condenser fan to the working fluid.
