  • Patent number: 4291828
Abstract: A self-erecting, collapse-resistant, self-locking carton is formed from a single blank of material. The bottom of the box is formed by two inward folding bottom sections. Each bottom section is formed from two elements and includes a scored locking flap. Forcing the box from a flat folded condition to an upright condition interengages and latches the two bottom sections together. Folding, tearing or removing the locking flaps disables the self-locking collapse-resistant feature thereby permitting the box to be refolded to the flat condition.

  • Patent number: 4003529
Abstract: A reel assembled from a pair of generally planar blanks and the blanks for assembling such reels, each of the blanks having a plurality of co-planar core members at least partially severed from the blank at radially offset circumferentially spaced locations. One or more of the core members may be displaced and axially offset to a core forming position along the axis of the blank, the exposed surfaces of the core thus formed from each blank may be abutted and suitably secured to form the reel in which the ends are defined by the blanks, and the thickness of the core is determined by the number of core members utilized to form the core.
