  • Publication number: 20230404599
Abstract: A method of inserting a fastener includes positioning a portion of a stylet within a cannulated shaft of the fastener, advancing a tip of the stylet through a first bone and into a second bone, advancing a leading end of the fastener along the stylet through the first bone and into the second bone, and removing the stylet from the cannulated shaft of the fastener and the bone. In another embodiment, a method of inserting a fastener includes positioning a portion of a stylet within a cannulated shaft of the fastener, advancing a tip of the stylet into a bone to a first depth without advancing the fastener into the bone, advancing a leading end of the fastener along the stylet into the bone to a second depth without further advancing the stylet into the bone, and removing the stylet from the cannulated shaft of the fastener and the bone.

  • Patent number: 11707284
Abstract: A stylet control system for selectively advancing and retracting a stylet includes a stylet having a first end and a second end, the second end being threaded, a screwdriver defining a bore for receiving a portion of the stylet and having a screw-engaging end for engaging a screw, the stylet being rotationally fixed relative to the screwdriver. The system includes a control device having a passage for receiving the screwdriver and having an inner portion defining a lumen for receiving the portion of the stylet, the inner portion being threaded for engaging the threaded second end of the stylet, when the screwdriver is rotated in the first rotation direction and the control device is prevented from rotating, the screwdriver advances the screw in the first axial direction and the stylet retracts in a second axial direction, opposite the first axial direction.

  • Publication number: 20220346841
Abstract: A fastener configured for spinal applications includes a head having a channel adapted to receive a spinal rod and a shaft extending from the head to a distal tip and having a thread, at least a portion of the thread being serrated. The serrated portion of the thread includes peaks and troughs and can extend along about 35 percent of a length of the thread.

  • Patent number: 11253374
Abstract: A bone graft delivery system includes a bone graft injector and an access portal. The access portal may include a handle having a first arm pivotably connected to, and biased away from, a second arm. A ratchet including a pawl may extend from the second arm. A delivery tube may be configured to mate with the first arm and be configured to store a bone graft material therein. A plunger including a shaft and a plunger tip at the distal end thereof may be configured to move through the delivery tube. At least a portion of the shaft may include teeth, the pawl of the ratchet being configured to iteratively contact the teeth. A user may hold the access portal with a first hand and the bone graft injector with a second hand, iteratively squeezing the handle to iteratively eject amounts of bone graft material into a patient.

  • Patent number: 10813678
Abstract: A debris collection device includes first and second members that are moveable relative to each other between first and second configurations. In the second configuration, the first and second members interface with each other and define a restraint opening that is configured to receive an elongate element, such as a spinal rod. The first and second members while in the second configuration define a guide opening that intersects the restraint opening. Such guide opening is configured to receive a cutting tool, such as a conical burr, drill bit, mill or saw. The first and second members have walls that, when in the second configuration, collectively define an interior space that has a volume sufficient to collect debris created by cutting the elongate element through the guide opening. Methods of utilizing the debris collection device allow for cutting of a spinal rod or the like in situ while capture debris caused by the cutting procedure.
