    Abstract: A liquid storage tank having a wall made of a plurality of metal plates having adjacent abutting edges joined together by at least vertical welded joints, at least some of the joints having an elongated tubular metal member with a surface in spanning contact with the welded joint for at least part of the joint length, a plurality of spaced apart holes in the tubular member surface, in contact with the metal plates, the joint being butt welded from one side with the tubular member in place spanning the other side of the joint, and the side edges of the tubular member surface being joined by a continuous weld to the adjacent metal plates.
